Electronic Arts has recently revealed the file size of Battlefield 6, and this could be good news for players. Battlefield 6 is one of the most eagerly awaited first-person shooters of 2025, and, unlike the Call of Duty series, which is known for its gigantic file sizes, it seems that the title won’t take huge chunks of the player’s space.
Battlefield 6 will be released on October 10, and gamers will have the chance to participate in the open beta soon. Apart from purchasing the title’s standard edition for $70, gamers can play Battlefield 6 using an EA Play Pro membership. Battlefield 6 won’t be available at launch on Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, though, which only offers subscribers games from the base version of EA Play.
Battlefield 6’s Open Beta Changes Are a Great Sign of Things to Come
DICE recently confirmed some major changes that will come to BF6 in time for its beta, being a fantastic indicator of fan feedback being listened to.
Battlefield 6 Will Take Up Between 55 to 80GB of Storage Space
Now, developer Battlefield Studios and publisher EA have revealed that Battlefield 6 will have a file size between 55 and 80GB on Steam. According to PC Gamer, which contacted EA, the file's final size will depend on the game’s specs, with Battlefield 6 reaching 55GB on “Minimum” requirements, and 80GB on “Recommended.” An EA representative explained that gamers can pick and choose which components to install, which seems ideal for players who are short on storage space.
The system requirements to play Battlefield 6 on PC were also unveiled a few days ago. To achieve the “Minimum” requirements, gamers have to use at least an Nvidia RTX 2060, an Intel Core i5-8400, and 16GB of RAM. To play with the “Recommended” specs, however, an Nvidia RTX 3060 Ti, Intel Core i7-10700, and the same amount of RAM will be necessary.
With the open beta starting later this week, gamers can already preload Battlefield 6. The beta’s Early Access starts on August 7, 8 AM PT, and other gamers will be able to start on August 9, 1 AM PT. The file size of the beta will be smaller than the final game, though, ranging from 33 to 39GB on different platforms.
Everything points to Battlefield 6 becoming a huge hit when it’s finally released later this year. Despite the game not even being playable yet, Battlefield 6 has already reached 10,000 simultaneous players on Steam, according to SteamDB. This is an incredibly high number, as there’s not much reason to open the game while the servers are not online yet. It’s possible that gamers could be tweaking Battlefield 6’s settings, though, to save time when the game is finally playable.
