Battlefield 6 is just five days into its global launch and is already posting Call of Duty-like numbers across gaming platforms. The release of Battlefield 6 has been widely anticipated since the beta, and initial reports of sales and player numbers since October 10 have been larger than prior premium-shooter games released by EA, including Apex Legends.
Statistical comparison between the Battlefield 6 and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 beta weekends showed that Battlefield 6 came out on top on the Steam platform. Concurrent players reached over 520,000 on Battlefield 6, with Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 peaking around 99,000 concurrent players on Steam. Based on beta weekends alone, Battlefield 6 had the potential of being more popular at launch.
Analysts Predict How Many Copies Battlefield 6 Will Sell in First Week
Analysts share a prediction for how well Battlefield 6 will perform, estimating an impressive number of copies sold in its first week.
Battlefield 6 Sells Over 7 Million Units in Five Days
Data shared with GamesIndustry.biz has revealed that Battlefield 6 has sold over 7 million copies across all platforms. Alinea Analytics writer Rhys Elliot estimates the initial sales figures give EA around $350 million in gross revenue. Steam accounts for over half of the copies sold at 56.7%, with 23.7% of sales on the PS5, and 19.6% of sales on the Xbox Series consoles. Additionally, the UK Sales Charts put Battlefield 6 at the top for the week ending October 11, surpassing EA Sports FC 26.
Launch day for Battlefield 6 was already huge for the title. Battlefield 6 made over $100 million on Steam with 1.8 million copies sold on October 10. Steam daily active user numbers have also been high and steady, with 2.3 million to 2.5 million players every day since launch. Twitch has also been running a Drop campaign that has viewership for Battlefield 6 peaked at 865,000 concurrent viewers, which could bring more players to the game to claim their prizes.
While the launch of Battlefield 6 has been a success for EA, it hasn’t come without its challenges. Some gamers had issues trying to play Battlefield 6 with the EA App on launch day, with the launcher telling players that they didn’t own the game yet. EA has since fixed the issue and provided affected players with in-game boosters and a free season pass.
As of the time of writing, these exact figures have not been confirmed by EA. It also has yet to be seen if the launch of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 will significantly affect player numbers when it releases on November 14. Elliot’s data shows that 3% of Battlefield 6 players have Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on their Steam Wishlist. However, Season 1 of Battlefield 6 launches on October 28, so players will have fresh content to look forward to as EA tries to retain their player base before Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 releases.
