Battlefield 6 is a seriously demanding game for most hardware, but PC players with high-end rigs and even console players are struggling with packet loss during multiplayer matches. There are a few things that can cause packet loss in Battlefield 6, and you may be able to fix your problems with just a few settings tweaks.
Packet loss is primarily a connection issue, but there are some other things that can cause server connection issues when playing Battlefield 6 as well. A lot of these problems are on PC, but they're easily fixed once you figure out the source. Console players don't have as many fixes to try, but they're not completely out of luck either. Here are some ways to fix packet loss in Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6 Gives Update on Missing Rewards
EA and DICE offer an update on a Battlefield 6 issue preventing some players from receiving their Open Beta, Phantom Edition, and other rewards.
How to Fix Battlefield 6 Packet Loss
If you're experiencing packet loss when playing Battlefield 6, the first thing you should do is make sure your connection is rock solid. Switching from Wi-Fi to a hardwired Ethernet connection is highly recommended for both PC and console players, and that should address some of the game's most common server issues.
If that doesn't work, then some players have reported success with switching to community servers instead of official Battlefield 6 lobbies. DICE's servers are getting slammed with a bunch of players during the launch window, and community servers seem to be much more stable at the moment. Just pick your favorite and jump in! Make sure you check the server details to see ping and XP modifiers since every server is different.
If you're on PC, then packet loss can be caused by performance issues and FPS drops instead of your internet connection. This is especially true for CPU-bound systems since Battlefield 6 is a CPU-intensive game. Try turning down your settings or limiting your framerate to a lower value. Some players have reported that disabling NVIDIA Reflex can also fix packet loss issues caused by stuttering and FPS drops as well.
Finally, make sure you have XMP enabled if you're a PC player. This setting is found in your system's BIOS, and it looks different depending on your motherboard's manufacturer, but it's typically listed with RAM settings. Reboot your PC, press whatever key you need to access your BIOS, then enable XMP to boost your Battlefield 6 performance.
More updates for Battlefield 6 are on the way, and these will no doubt contain fixes for server issues and connection errors. If you can't fix packet loss, you'll have to wait for the developer to release a patch that stabilizes things. In the meantime, you can try out community servers or work on your Battlefield 6 campaign challenges.
