Recently leaked images of Battlefield 6 show what appear to be scenes from a number of large maps planned for the upcoming FPS game, including a number of finished-looking images, some in-progress designs, and a few aerial overhead shots depicting the scale of these maps. Four different maps for Battlefield 6 are represented in the images, showing there is still a lot that players have yet to experience.
The open beta weekends for Battlefield 6 were a big hit. Hundreds of thousands of players logged in to test out the upcoming game, and they were invited to experience the Empire State, Iberian Offensive, Liberation Peak, and Siege of Cairo maps.
In Defense of Battlefield 6's Map Sizes
Battlefield 6's maps are already proving to be a tad divisive, but I think they strike a very careful balance, resulting in the best of both worlds.
Battlefield 6 Large Maps Leaked
- Firestorm
- Manhattan Bridge
- Mirak Valley
- New Sobek City
EA has already announced that there will be nine maps in Battlefield 6 at launch, and a newly released set of 20 images on Reddit gives players a closer look at four that weren't included in the open beta: Firestorm, Manhattan Bridge, Mirak Valley, and New Sobek City. New Sobek City and Mirak Valley get the most attention, with eight images apiece, and as previous reports have indicated, both should provide a lot of options for both infantry and ground and air-based vehicular combat. Already announced as the largest map in the game, Mirak Valley provides a lot of open space in its large perimeter area, with its central area mostly filled with small buildings. Conversely, New Sobek City looks like it will provide a lot more tight spaces for close-quarters combat, as well as more large buildings to fight through and destroy.
There are also a few glimpses into a couple of other maps, with a few close-up images of Manhattan Bridge's modern urban landscape and a single bird's-eye map of Firestorm, an Iran-based map returning from Battlefield 3. Of the four maps shown in the new leak, all but Manhattan Bridge have previously been touted by EA as suitable for both infantry and vehicle-based combat, with Manhattan Bridge packing in a lot of potential for use of Battlefield 6's destruction mechanics.
One of the biggest complaints the game received during its beta testing was the small size of the available maps, which were all classified as small or medium. If these newly leaked images are accurate, they show a much larger scale than what players have grown accustomed to and leave only the infantry-only Saints Quarter map in the dark. Additionally, previous leaks have shown off the size of Battlefield 6's big maps, with Mirak Valley being at least seven times as large as Siege of Cairo, and another map reportedly in development for post-launch content, Eastwood, also set for large-scale combat.
