EA is planning a big multiplayer reveal event for Battlefield 6 next week, on the last day of July. Battlefield 6 is just now starting to be unveiled by EA after months of holding Battlefield Labs multiplayer playtests for select gamers. After confirming the game's official title yesterday, EA and DICE dropped the game's first full trailer earlier today.
DICE, along with EA studios Ripple Effect, Criterion, and Motive, are doing things differently with Battlefield 6 to hopefully avoid the mistakes of Battlefield 2042 four years ago. For one, Battlefield 6 is confirmed to be featuring a full campaign alongside its multiplayer suite, something that Battlefield 2042 lacked. It'll be the first campaign in the series since 2018's vignette-style Battlefield 5 story. The last traditional, non-vignette campaign in the Battlefield series was offered by the cops and robbers entry Battlefield Hardline in 2015. Battlefield 6 is also all-but-confirmed to be offering a separate free-to-play battle royale mode, something that many feel Battlefield 2042 desperately needed.
How EA Plans to Hit 100 Million Players in Battlefield 6
EA has an incredibly ambitious goal for Battlefield 6, and with it, a plan in place to help make sure the new modern-day multiplayer FPS succeeds.
Today, EA released the first trailer for Battlefield 6, a two-minute cinematic thrillfest of action and explosions set to Bob Dylan's "Masters of War." The trailer exclusively focused on Battlefield 6's campaign, showing off some of the locations the narrative's blood-pumping battles will be taking place, New York City among them. There were also some prominently featured faces in the trailer who are likely to be the campaign's leading characters. Despite the trailer's single-player focus, it ended by reminding fans of the game's multiplayer blowout that's set to go live on July 31.
Battlefield 6 Multiplayer Reveal Happening on July 31
While information about where this Battlefield 6 multiplayer reveal will be streamed or what exactly the event will entail wasn't included at the end of the trailer, fans will likely be able to find it on the official Battlefield Twitter account and YouTube channel once July 31 rolls around. A Battlefield 6 beta has also been confirmed by EA, and there will likely be start dates and times revealed for that during the multiplayer reveal next week. Another big question fans have pertains to Battlefield 6's release date. Rumors seem to be suggesting the game will land sometime in October, which is a month currently packed with big names like The Outer Worlds 2, Ninja Gaiden 4, and Ghost of Yotei. Battlefield 6's biggest competitor, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, is also without a confirmed release date, though rumors are pinning it in mid-November, leaving Battlefield 6 with not a ton of options for a clean spotlight this Fall.
Ever since Battlefield 2042, fans of EA's large-scale military FPS have been wondering what the next Battlefield game will look like after EA seems to have poured everything it has into this next entry. Perhaps gamers will finally get a glimpse at Battlefield's long-requested battle royale mode to see whether it can really go toe-to-toe with Call of Duty: Warzone. It's even possible for the Battlefield 6 beta to go live on July 31 as well, but fans will just have to tune in to find out.
