PlayStation 5 players can earn an exclusive cosmetic skin by taking part in the upcoming Battlefield 6 Open Beta that launches on August 9. It's an exciting time for fans of the franchise as Battlefield 6 is currently running an Early Access event for players, with the first of two open beta tests set to kick off this coming weekend.
Following the multiplayer reveal event, players began queuing for the Battlefield 6 Open Beta in large numbers, days before the servers were turned on. While many have praised Battlefield 6's seeming return to form, the current early access portion hasn't been free of issues. Outside of bugs and glitches here and there, cheaters have also been impacting games, though fans are hopeful that EA can use these moments in the beta to better safeguard the launch experience. Still, fans who are able to jump into these betas will also be able to earn some new gear as well.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta Players Are Already Dealing with Cheaters
Players share evidence that cheating is already happening in Battlefield 6, as the open beta period for the highly anticipated game kicks off.
Battlefield 6 Open Beta PS5 Rewards
- "Advance Party" Soldier Skin (PS5 Only)
In fact, players have begun seeing a popup notification when logging in through the PlayStation 5. An Open Beta PlayStation Exclusive skin called Advance Party becomes unlocked and available to use when Battlefield 6 officially launches in October. The skin itself shows the soldier mostly in PlayStation-specific colors, like black with bits of gray and a pop of blue in specific spots like the goggle headband that extends around the soldier's helmet. It's currently unknown if this skin is specific to the Assault class or can be applied to all four Battlefield 6 classes.
While the Advance Party skin appears to be exclusive to PlayStation 5, there are plenty of other Battlefield 6 rewards to unlock during both Open Beta test weekends. However, players will need to put in some work to acquire these calling cards, charms, and cosmetic skins by reaching milestone levels of 10, 15, and 20, or helping the team by repairing vehicle health with the engineer, or spotting enemies using recon. Weekend 2 will task players with playing the objective, such as capturing 42 flags in Conquest, Domination, or King of the Hill, getting 200 kills or assists, and then capturing 10 sectors in Breakthrough or Rush.
As players have already seen, EA and Battlefield Studios are making sure the game continues to feel grounded in both gameplay as well as with the cosmetic options it offers. In fact, developers have already confirmed that Battlefield 6 will feature grounded and authentic skins, avoiding many of the collaborations that other shooters like Fortnite and Call of Duty have continued to double down on. So, players shouldn't expect to see the likes of Marvel superheroes or other iconic franchise characters driving tanks through buildings in Battlefield 6 anytime soon.
