Battlefield 6's Open Beta client will be available for preload in a few hours, with the launch scheduled for August 4 at 8:00 a.m. PT or 3:00 p.m. UTC. While players on all platforms can preload the client, only a select group will be able to play Battlefield 6 during the Early Access phase starting August 7.
Fans were initially confused about how Battlefield 6's Open Beta would work. The confusion came from the wording of the announcement, which suggested the Open Beta would include an Early Access period. The developer later clarified that two days before the first global playtest, fans with a redemption code-which was obtained through Twitch drops, Battlefield Labs sign-up, or an EA Play Pro membership, would be able to join and test Battlefield 6.
August 7 Is Suddenly a Big Day for FPS Fans
Those who enjoy FPS titles like Call of Duty and Battlefield will want to mark August 7 on their calendars, as it is now a big day for the genre.
Battlefield 6 Preload Date and Time
Battlefield 6's preload period is universal, beginning on August 4 at 8:00 a.m. PT (3:00 p.m. UTC). The option to download the beta client should appear across all major storefronts, including the Microsoft Store, PlayStation Store, Epic Games, EA App, and Steam. Players without an Early Access code can still preload the game, but they will have to wait until August 9 for the first global playtest. Those with a code, however, can download the beta and start playing as early as August 7 at 1 a.m. PT (8 a.m. UTC).
- Preload Start: August 4, 8:00 a.m. PT (3:00 p.m. UTC)
- Early Access: August 7, 1:00 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. UTC)
- First Open Beta Weekend: August 9, 1:00 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. UTC)
- Second Open Beta Weekend: August 14, 1 a.m. PT (8:00 a.m. UTC)
Earlier this month, Battlefield 6 revealed its Open Beta content, confirming four maps and four game modes. The initial map list features Liberation Peak, Empire State, Siege of Cairo, and Iberian Offensive, while the game modes are Conquest, Breakthrough, Squad Deathmatch, and Domination. There is also a plethora of unique rewards for Open Beta players to unlock and use in the alpha edition.
One thing the developer wants fans to do before preloading Battlefield 6's beta client is to link their EA account to their preferred platform. This can be done quickly using EA's setup guides and should only take a few minutes. It's also a good idea for fans to check Battlefield 6's system requirements in advance to make sure their PC can handle the demanding FPS.
