EA and Battlefield Studios have confirmed that the Battlefield 6 open beta will take place across two weekends - August 9 through 10 and August 14 through 17. Battlefield 6 is the highly-anticipated next installment in the long-running first-person shooter franchise, and it looks to be a return to form after the misstep that was Battlefield 2042.

Battlefield 2042 released to lackluster reviews in 2021 and is generally considered to be one of the worst games in the franchise. Battlefield 2042 updates improved the game post-launch and the game certainly has its fans, but nothing on the scale of previous Battlefield titles. EA is hoping to win back lapsed Battlefield players and newcomers alike with Battlefield 6, which is looking incredibly impressive so far.

The Battlefield 6 release date is October 10, with the game set to launch for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X for $70. Luckily, Battlefield fans won't have to wait that long to play the game for themselves. The Battlefield 6 open beta will be live from August 9 through August 10, and then again from August 14 through August 17. Those that watch content creators during the July 31 showcase will also have the chance to get early access to the beta from August 7 to August 8. Unlike many other games, accessing the Battlefield 6 beta doesn't require a pre-order or a subscription. Everyone will be able to jump into the Battlefield 6 beta and try the game for themselves in August, and if things go well, it should drum up significant interest in the game.

When is the Battlefield 6 Open Beta?

  • Early Access: August 7 - August 8
  • Weekend 1: August 9 - August 10
  • Weekend 2: August 14 - August 17

Beta-specific maps and modes have yet to be announced, but we do know that the full game will have eight modes available at launch. Conquest, Breakthrough, Rush, Team Deathmatch, Squad Deathmatch, Domination, and King of the Hill have all been confirmed for Battlefield 6, along with the brand-new mode Escalation. Escalation has two teams fighting to secure "strategic control points," so it should be easy to pick up and understand for FPS veterans.

Multiplayer may be the big selling point of Battlefield 6, but the game will also have a full-fledged single-player campaign. The Battlefield 6 single-player campaign has players taking control of the Dagger 1-3 Marine Raiders squad as they fight private militaries at various locations around the world. Fans will have to wait for launch to try the single-player, but the Battlefield 6 multiplayer will be playable during the open beta from August 9 - 10 and again from August 14 - 17.
