Electronic Arts has shared another Battlefield 6 trailer, this one dedicated to the game's PC version, which will offer a variety of platform-exclusive features. These range from niche offerings to major additions that could significantly extend Battlefield 6's PC longevity.

As evidenced by Battlefield 6's record-breaking open beta, the next mainline entry in the long-running FPS series is currently shaping up to be one of the biggest releases of 2025. The much-anticipated title is scheduled to hit the market on October 10.

Battlefield 6 Dev Comments on Controversial Anti-Cheat Measure

A Battlefield 6 developer comments on the recent controversy surrounding the shooter's rather inconvenient anti-cheat measures.

With six weeks remaining until launch, EA has released a new trailer dedicated to the PC version of Battlefield 6. The 100-second video offers a combination of gameplay and cutscene footage illustrating the key features of the game's PC port, many of which will be platform-exclusive. These include support for ultrawide monitors and uncapped frame rates, as well as compatibility with Intel and Nvidia's AI-powered upscaling and frame generation technologies: XeSS 2 and DLSS 4. In total, Battlefield 6 will offer over 600 customization options, largely centered on fine-tuning the game's graphical fidelity.

Battlefield 6 PC-Exclusive Features

  • Ultrawide monitor support
  • Uncapped frame rate (user-configurable)
  • Over 600 customization (graphics and other) options
  • Portal editor for custom matches
  • Javelin Anti-Cheat
  • Intel XeSS 2 and DLSS 4 support

The new video also offers another look at the Battlefield 6 rendition of Portal, a returning feature from Battlefield 2042 that allows players to build custom multiplayer experiences, leveraging the game's vast pool of assets. The few brief glimpses of the Portal interface seen in the trailer reaffirm that the mode will support custom logic, player-configured victory conditions, and robust visual scripting. Official promotional materials released in late July 2025 suggest that the new version of Portal uses a level editor built on Godot, a popular open-source engine.

Why Is Battlefield 6 Portal Using a Godot-Based Level Editor?

The decision to use a Godot-based editor over extending Frosbite's internal tools to the community likely reflects both practical and legal considerations: DICE has no intention of allowing players to import custom assets, so what Portal needs the most is a lightweight, fast-to-iterate level editor capable of handling layouts and gameplay logic rather than full asset pipelines one would encounter in a proper game development environment. Beyond geometry, this also means supporting game event nodes (scripted elements like objectives and spawn points) that can be easily configured without overwhelming players.

Building such an editor from scratch would have been costly, while exposing the proprietary tools of Frostbite—the engine powering Battlefield 6—raises licensing and legal complications. Given those circumstances, adopting Godot as a flexible, open-source framework seems like a sensible alternative that fits the project's technical requirements while simultaneously being cost-effective, what with the engine being distributed under the highly permissive MIT license. Technical details aside, Portal has the potential to significantly extend Battlefield 6's longevity on PC, as is often the case with user-generated content platforms.
