Hours before the game has even launched, one Battlefield 6 player is already recreating iconic Call of Duty multiplayer maps using the shooter's Portal mode. Battlefield 6 will once again include the much-loved Portal mode at launch, this time with some major improvements and changes over its predecessors. The mode allows fans to let their imaginations run wild, creating their own maps and game modes using the Godot engine, and it looks like those who already have access are creating some incredible experiences.

When it comes to first-person shooters, Call of Duty and Battlefield are undoubtedly the two biggest names in the genre. Generally, Activision dominates by releasing a new Call of Duty entry every year, thanks to its wide array of development studios, including Raven Software, Infinity Ward, Sledgehammer Games, Treyarch Studios, and more. Battlefield, on the other hand, does not release annually, but it does appear to be back with a bang this year. The Battlefield 6 open beta was a huge success for EA, and with the shooter just hours away from release, fans are eager to finally jump back in.

Battlefield 6 Player Recreates Shipment From Call of Duty

Call of Duty is home to some of the best multiplayer maps of all time, so it likely won't come as a surprise to hear that one Battlefield 6 player has recreated Shipment, first seen in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, inside of the game's Portal mode. Twitter user Matavatar said the map "should be available on day 1," before showing a flyover of the work-in-progress map. As seen in the video below, every last detail and sightline from the original map has been meticulously recreated. Although there aren't any textures just yet, all of the shipping containers, barrels, crates, and more are laid out exactly as one would find them in Call of Duty.

Alongside maps such as Nuketown, Rust, and Terminal, Shipment is one of the most famous maps to come out of the Call of Duty franchise. Whether Activision or EA will allow the recreation to remain in-game is unknown, but the user has said he intends to keep recreating more Call of Duty maps in Battlefield 6's Portal mode. In response to a fellow Twitter user, Matavatar said they would also like to recreate Nuketown and Firing Range, as well as some classic Battlefield maps from older entries in the series.

With Battlefield 6 being labeled as a return to form for the franchise, and Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 making waves with its removal of SBMM, it's going to be an incredible year for first-person shooter fans. While the Black Ops 7 beta didn't manage to pull in quite as many players on Steam as Battlefield 6 did during its beta, Treyarch won over the hearts of fans when it finally confirmed that it would be returning to a classic matchmaking system and removing disbanding lobbies at launch, something players have been requesting for over five years now.
