A player recently remade Call of Duty’s “Shipment” map using Battlefield 6’s Portal mode, but the creation was quickly removed for breaking the Community Guidelines. This showcases how eager Electronic Arts is to crack down on gamers creating “inappropriate” content for Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6 was released on October 10, offering a variety of game modes for fans. Apart from having a single-player campaign and regular multiplayer modes, the popular FPS offers players the opportunity to customize their own games via Battlefield 6’s Portal mode. In this mode, anyone can create their own maps, weapons, and even rules, and compete with friends.
Battlefield 6's Season 1 Content Explained
After some hands-on time with Battlefield 6 Season 1, here's the breakdown on everything players can look forward to seeing and shooting, explained.
Electronic Arts Removes Popular 'Shipment 2019 Edition' Map From Battlefield 6 Portal
Unfortunately, one of the most popular maps from Portal mode has recently been taken down by EA. The “Shipment 2019 edition” map was removed from Battlefield 6 due to breaking the rules, which forbid players from making “inappropriate references to third-party products.” First introduced in Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare and reappearing in several entries of the franchise later, “Shipment” is a popular Call of Duty multiplayer map that stands out due to its small size, allowing for action-packed matches.
“Shipment” is far from the only map that received a fair share of attention from the community, though. Gamers have already devised some fairly interesting Battlefield 6 maps in Portal mode, ranging from close-quarters arenas to sprawling areas. Among the most popular maps so far, there is "Besieged," for example, which offers a wave-defense horde mode. Fans who wanted to efficiently farm XP from bots have also made "Breakthrough Solo Bots" a popular - if controversial - map.
A fan has also recreated Battlefield 3’s Noshahr Canals map in Battlefield 6. According to the map’s creator, this was a difficult task to pull off, as the assets are still fairly limited in Portal mode, but the final result offers a fairly nostalgic experience.
Gamers can expect Portal mode to become even bigger with time, especially as the developers add more functions to it, and the creators in the community get used to its quirks. Battlefield 6 had a huge launch, with over 700,000 simultaneous Steam players trying it soon after the release. A few days ago, Electronic Arts revealed that Battlefield 6 sold over six million units in the first three days. With these numbers, not only is Battlefield 6 a serious competitor to this year’s Call of Duty, even without gamers copying its maps, but it also has a fairly good chance to be supported by EA for a long time.
