Battlefield 6 devs say the game's controversial quick turn feature is intended as a gameplay balancing measure. EA has introduced several new features and adjusted existing ones in an effort to take the series back to its previous heights, and it's had its share of ups and downs along the way. By and large, Battlefield 6 is already earning praise, but there are still some things players have mixed opinions about.
After extensive playtesting in Battlefield Labs and a record-breaking Battlefield 6 open beta, EA has garnered a lot of feedback on the game. The title's impressive player counts alone are a good sign for the franchise, but even after such a successful open beta, it became clear there are still improvements to be made. It didn't take long for devs to reveal they're adjusting some mechanics in response to player feedback, and now, some have offered more insight into one of Battlefield 6's more contentious features.

A Battlefield 6 dev confirms that Battlefield Studios will make adjustments to sniper scope glint in response to player feedback over the feature.
Battlefield 6's Quick Turn Mechanic Addresses Concerns With Controller Aim Assist
In an interview with Kotaku, Battlefield 6 devs explained that giving players the option to perform an immediate 180 was largely a way to balance the game while managing aim assist on controllers. Matthew Nickerson, Battlefield 6's senior console combat designer, said that aim assist automatically slows users down while moving their reticles across potential targets, making it hard to turn around quickly. So, adding the quick turn option, officially dubbed "Flick Stick," helps controller users keep up with those on a mouse and keyboard. Xbox and PlayStation users can already take advantage of Battlefield 6's console-only crossplay if they don't want to compete against PC players, but Flick Stick can help even things out in PC-console cross-play matches.
While gameplay balancing was the main reason behind Flick Stick, the devs also included it for movement and customization purposes. Motion in the upcoming Battlefield series title is noticeably more agile and versatile than previous entries, although Battlefield 6 has nerfed some movement options after some players found it made the game feel less grounded. Flipping around almost immediately may not necessarily be realistic, but it does open up gamers' options in combat, especially, as Nickerson points out, when paired with other features, like the PS5's gyro aiming.
Given these devs' explanations, it seems like Flick Stick is here to stay, but other controversial mechanics will work differently in the final build than they did in the open beta. EA is toning down Battlefield 6's auto-spotting feature, which many playtesters found made the Recon class overpowered. The game will make an appearance at the Tokyo Game Show as well, so fans may learn more official details before long.
