Battlefield 6 lead producer David Sirland has confirmed that a fix is finally coming for the rooftop drone exploit. This glitch has frequently been highlighted as one of the more annoying parts of Battlefield 6, so its removal is going to be game-changing for many players.

In the days following Battlefield 6's release, players quickly realized that by hitting a teammate's recon drone with a sledgehammer, they could ride the equipment into the sky. From here, players quickly evolved the Battlefield 6 recon drone glitch, using it to get to rooftops and bridges where they're not supposed to be. There are many areas that aren't counted as out-of-bounds, so players can camp in the sky and pick off enemies from a distance. This has been the cause of much frustration among players, as it makes certain maps and modes much more difficult. While these players can technically be killed from their glitched spots, it's difficult to expect them while dealing with all the other Battlefield 6 chaos.

Battlefield 6's Drone Rooftop Exploit is Finally Getting a Fix

There's good news on this front. According to lead producer David Sirland in a recent X Q&A, the recon drone glitch has been fixed, and the change is coming in the next Battlefield 6 update, although it remains to be seen exactly when that will be. It's not clear whether the physics issue with the drone has been solved, or whether the rooftops and bridges have been made out-of-bounds, but regardless, the end of rooftop campers is almost here.

This will bring an end to what is arguably Battlefield 6's most annoying exploit, and Battlefield Studios has been working consistently to stamp out these types of issues since release. Just recently, the developer finally disabled the bugged IFV Lock-Guided Missile in Battlefield 6, after players discovered it was destroying its target almost every time regardless of countermeasures. These small steps all add up to a much better Battlefield 6 experience.

Balance changes and bug fixes aside, there's plenty for Battlefield 6 players to be excited about in the coming months. Season 1 of Battlefield 6 is officially underway with the Rogue Ops phase, while California Resistance will launch on November 18 with the Eastwood map and Sabotage game mode. Beyond that, the final phase of Season 1 is Winter Offensive on December 9, with much more likely to arrive throughout next year.
