Battlefield 6 reveals an important change to the popular game mode Rush for the second open beta weekend, but players respond with frustration due to one restriction. Following its full multiplayer reveal at a special event hosted by EA, Battlefield 6 has seen massive amounts of excitement and enthusiasm, which has largely translated to its open beta testing weekends.
Ahead of the first weekend's open beta, Battlefield 6 saw massive player numbers, helping the game to break records prior to launch. The massive wave of players caused some server queue issues, which EA was quick to correct, and with the second open beta happening from August 14-17, players have another chance to check the game out. However, the second testing weekend is adding the new Operation Empire State map along with some game mode options like the fan-favorite Rush.

Battlefield 6 Makes Adjustment to Rush, but Fans Are Unhappy with Match Sizes
Rush continues to be a popular multiplayer mode for the franchise, incorporating an attackers versus defenders element where one team tries to detonate 2 bombs across multiple zones on the map, while the other attempts to stop them and drain their reinforcements completely. Battlefield 6's second open beta weekend has finally added Rush, though it appears to be a slightly different version than what longtime fans are used to, reducing the player count to just 24 players. Another issue that fans noticed is that the countdown timer on the bombs felt too long at 45 seconds, to which EA has seemingly agreed and has reduced the time to just 30 seconds.
While the change seems to have been a positive one with players, it doesn't seem to be the major issue that fans have with Battlefield 6's version of Rush. The fan-favorite mode has fewer players than in past games, opting for a smaller 12 versus 12 format, which hasn't sat well with many. Responses to the change largely focused on the small match sizes, with many like PixelSpawn asking EA to increase the player cap on the game mode to the traditional 64-player size, where teams of 32 attackers take on 32 defenders.
As EA and Battlefield Studios continue to tweak and improve the experience through fan feedback, the second open beta certainly had some issues out of the gate. Battlefield 6 matchmaking was not only slow for some players, but others were greeted with error messages. Others noted that the party system wasn't functioning as intended, while some PC users were missing DLSS and DLAA settings entirely. As frustrating as these issues can be, the good news is that this is just a beta, and it gives EA more time to refine the experience now before it launches fully in October.
