Battlefield 6 players are continuing to share their frustrations with the game's map sizes. Throughout the Battlefield 6 beta, the small size of the maps was a huge point of contention in the community, and it seems this has carried over to the full release.
Because the Battlefield 6 beta only had a few maps available, many hoped that the game's other maps would provide a more traditional large-scale Battlefield experience. Even the Battlefield 6 design director weighed in on the game's map sizes, pointing out that scale isn't everything while claiming that the maps will have something to offer every type of player. After beta frustrations cooled, the only thing for players to do was wait and see if the game addressed their complaints.
Battlefield 6 Boss Calls Generative AI 'Very Seducing'
DICE's VP says generative AI could make creative gaming teams more innovative and creative, despite no direct use in Battlefield 6.
Battlefield 6 Players Still Don't Like the Smaller Overall Map Size
A Reddit thread started by user Dull-Caterpillar3153 has highlighted that even in the full game, the Battlefield 6 maps "across the board lean towards the smaller end of the scale," describing it as being "more like very small, small, medium as opposed to small, medium and large." According to the player, even the maps that are supposedly on the bigger side of the scale "feel smaller than they appear," with "intense chaos 24/7."
Many of the comments were supportive of Dull-Caterpillar3153's overall sentiment, with one user going as far as to say that "the game isn't fun because of these maps. It feels like you are surrounded 24/7 so Goodluck being alive for more than a few seconds." Another player noted that they "can't take 2 steps without getting ripped to shreds," even in their own spawn headquarters. It's important to note that many of the players in the thread were still enjoying the game overall, which is why the fact that this particular piece of Battlefield 6 beta feedback wasn't acted upon is all the more frustrating for players.
It's certainly possible that there simply wasn't time for Battlefield Studios to make the changes players wanted to see from the launch maps, which would make sense. However, with Battlefield 6's Season 1 maps on the way, it's fair to hope that the map size criticism will be addressed in the upcoming content. Season 1 kicks off on October 28 with the Rogue Ops phase, which will come with the Blackwell Fields map. Later in Season 1, maps Eastwood and Ice Lock Empire State will be added on November 18 and December 9, respectively.
