Battlefield 6 has already made over $100 million in revenue on Steam alone, according to one industry analyst. Excitement around the game had reached a fever pitch in the months leading up to its release, with a wildly successful open beta driving expectations high after the disappointment of Battlefield 2042. It seems that gathering and responding to so much player feedback has paid off, as Battlefield 6 is off to a blistering start.
The latest in EA's long-running shooter franchise finally landed on October 10, 2025, and early impressions are a welcome change after the last entry. Initial reviews call Battlefield 6 the best the series has felt in a long time, and players seem to agree with the critical consensus. While the game has been out for less than a day, it's already making significant waves.
How EA Plans to Hit 100 Million Players in Battlefield 6
EA has an incredibly ambitious goal for Battlefield 6, and with it, a plan in place to help make sure the new modern-day multiplayer FPS succeeds.
Battlefield 6 Has Made $100 Million on Steam in Its First Day
Rhys Elliott, Alinea Analytics' Head of Market Analysis, revealed in a recent newsletter that Battlefield 6 has already sold 1.8 million copies on Steam, equal to over $100 million in revenue. Leading up to release, the game also landed on over 3.5 million users' wishlists, suggesting there could be plenty more sales to come through on Steam, too. A different analytic firm had previously estimated that Battlefield 6 would sell five million copies in its first week across all platforms, so it seems well on its way to hitting that mark, having already gotten a third of the way there on Steam alone in one day.
Elliott also suggested that the new Battlefield might reach a wider, more diverse audience than previous entries, as many Steam users who wishlisted the game had also wishlisted titles in other genres. Interestingly, 6% of Battlefield 6 wishlisters have also wished for Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, hinting that not every gamer plans to stick to just one side of the shooter rivalry. Still, with Battlefield 6's open beta outperforming Black Ops 7's on Steam, it seems that Activision may have a more challenging time than usual competing with EA's FPS this release cycle.
All in all, things are looking good for the Battlefield franchise. The early success of Battlefield 6 is the latest in a string of big news for the industry giant, as EA announced it's going private in a $55 billion deal, marking the largest leveraged buyout in history. What remains in store for the series down the road is uncertain, but for now, it seems critics and fans agree that Battlefield is back.
