Battlefield 6 players won't be able to ride on top of drones for much longer, as EA is removing the bug in its next patch. Like any AAA release, the shooter launched with its fair share of glitches, some of which players have found more amusing than others. Devs are addressing a few notable ones in the latest Battlefield 6 update, including one of the game's funnier quirks.
Despite a massively popular open beta and largely positive reviews, not everything has gone Battlefield Studios' way since launch. Complaints about bugs and gameplay balancing have abounded, and Battlefield 6's battle royale mode got review bombed upon its release, casting a shadow over the game's strong initial feedback and sales performance. Thankfully, the devs have been responsive, and Battlefield Studios has released several patches to address common concerns, with Update 1.1.1.5 tackling several remaining issues.
Battlefield 6 Makes Highly Requested Change to Challenges
Battlefield 6 makes a highly requested change to the daily challenges, giving players more control on which tasks can appear for them.
The patch notes for version 1.1.1.5 reveal that the Battlefield 6 team is finally fixing the notorious drone glitch. Fans discovered the bizarre Battlefield 6 bug, which allows players to ride friendly drones by smacking them with a sledgehammer, mere days after the game came out, but it remained intact through multiple patches, despite its popularity. As silly as the technique appears, it has serious gameplay implications. When used carefully, the glitch allows players to access vantage points that would normally be inaccessible, giving snipers a huge advantage. Battlefield 6's relatively small maps exacerbate the issue, as there are fewer places for others to hide, but snipers won't be able to capitalize on that for long now, as its long-awaited fix arrives on November 11, 2025, at 4 AM EST.
The drone glitch isn't the only infamous bug getting squashed in the update. Battlefield Studios also says it's fixing the issue where the Infantry Fighting Vehicle's Lock-Guided Missiles were unaffected by enemy countermeasures. Earlier, Battlefield 6 had disabled the weapon as a temporary solution after widespread fan feedback. Like that drone glitch, that bug had been around for almost an entire month before EA addressed it, but it seems like it's finally coming to an end.
The weapon bloom problem that has affected Battlefield 6 players since the open beta is also getting some tweaks to make aiming more manageable. One fix addresses an issue where the dispersion penalty for sprinting persisted even when players stopped to aim down the sight. Another resolves a glitch where dispersion always assumed a player was moving at full speed and would scale incorrectly because of it. Vehicle spawns, challenge progression, and battle royale matches are all getting various patches and optimizations as well.
