Glint is the bane of every sniper's existence in Battlefield 6, broadcasting your position to the entire lobby if you aim down sights for even a second. Thankfully, there are a few ways to minimize your sniper rifle's scope glint in Battlefield 6.
Glint is present on every sniper rifle in Battlefield 6, even if you aren't using a long-range scope. Sniper glint has been tuned down since the Battlefield 6 beta, but it's still a big deal in the full release. It can also give you some helpful information about the sniper that's targeting you —if you know what to look for.
Battlefield 6 Planning Changes to Sniper Scope Glint Based on Player Feedback
A Battlefield 6 dev confirms that Battlefield Studios will make adjustments to sniper scope glint in response to player feedback over the feature.
How Does Sniper Glint Work in Battlefield 6?
Every sniper rifle in Battlefield 6 has scope glint to some degree, even if you're only using a basic scope without much magnification. Long-range scopes at 6x magnification and up have stronger glint effects, but people will still see that signature shine even if you're using a 3x optic.
The glint effect varies, depending on the scope attached to your rifle. Glint doesn't appear at close range, but your scope will start to shine once you get 15–20 meters away from your targets. High-power scopes will have brighter glints compared to smaller sights, so keep that in mind if you're doing long-distance sniping.
To reduce the glint produced by your sniper rifle's scope, you can add the AG Coating attachment to the Optic Accessory slot. This Anti-Glare Coating will make your glint duller and harder to see. It'll also make the lines reflecting off your scope much thinner, making it harder for enemies to spot you unless they're actively searching for your sniping position. It takes a while to unlock it (the M2010 ESR gets it at Mastery 36), but it's a must-have attachment once you get it.
If you're not playing as a sniper, you can still get some helpful information about enemy Recon players based on their glints. Every sniper rifle in Battlefield 6 has a sweet spot where they'll kill with a single shot to the upper chest. The PSR is most effective between 75–150 meters, for example. If you're in this sweet spot, you'll see a rainbow effect added to the glint of a sniper who's aiming at you. If the glint isn't pure white, run for cover.
Glint isn't exclusive to sniper rifles, either. Some long-range gadgets like the Recon's Laser Designator also have a glint effect, so keep that in mind if you're trying to paint targets from a distance. All other Battlefield 6 weapons are glint-free, though, so you don't have to worry about getting spotted if you're using a long-range scope on an assault rifle or LMG.
