Wuchang Fallen Feathers features a lot of cinematic boss fights that ramp up in difficulty as players progress into further areas. Once players leave the Revenant Temple, their first destination will be the Lightzen Temple, where a group of afflicted enemies will be waiting for them. Among these enemies is the first major boss in the game called Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga. Although it's the first boss, the encounter can be quite challenging if you go in blind. Here's a quick rundown of the whole boss fight and tips to increase your odds of winning.

Where to Find Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga in Wuchang Fallen Feathers

After traversing through the cliffs of Worship's Rise, players will eventually end up inside the Lightzen Temple in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. There's a shrine in the middle of the temple that you should activate before engaging with enemies nearby to avoid making the long trip back here again.

Once you've rested at the shrine, it's recommended to try and clear out the enemies roaming around to get some Red Mercury and invest it into your character's level. Having improved stats before facing the boss will make the encounter a lot easier. Investing in Strength (attack power) and Endurance (stamina) should be your number one priority, as the boss attacks aren't too difficult to dodge for you to boost up Vitality (HP).

After you've leveled up your character and are ready to face the boss, head up the stairs towards the right of the shrine and into the Lightzen Temple courtyard. There will be two zombified monks inside that you'll need to deal with. Head across the courtyard and go around the room ahead to find the door to the boss arena. Once you open the doors, the boss encounter with Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga will begin.

How to Beat Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga

Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga has two phases, so you'll need to get those evasions on point. Here are all the major attacks you can expect the boss to do against you, and how to counter them.

  • Halberd Charge: The boss will lower its Halberd and charge straight towards Wuchang to inflict stab damage. You should dodge this attack by side-stepping.
  • Jump Attack: During the fight, the boss will pose with his weapon on the side and one leg up. When that happens, be prepared to dodge its aerial strike as it'll leap up and plunge the Halberd into the ground. This attack can easily be dodged at the last second to build up Skyborn Might.
  • AOE Stomp: At random intervals, the boss will hit the Halberd on the ground, signaling an AOE attack. It'll quickly follow this action by stomping its foot on the ground, dealing an AOE attack in a rather small radius. Keep your distance from the boss when this attack is about to happen to get some breathing room. Feel free to use a healing charge.
  • Fireball (Phase Two): Once the boss' HP falls below 50%, the fight will switch to phase two, starting with it launching an AOE attack up in the air that will deal burn damage if you're caught in it. This attack has a wider radius than the stomp, so keep a significant distance from the boss.
  • Fire Imbued Halberd (Phase Two): In the second phase, most of the moveset of Man-Eating Dhutanga is the same. The only difference is that the boss becomes noticeably faster and ignites its Halberd on fire, which will deal burn build-up on every hit.

The main strategy to beat the boss is to launch charged heavy attacks against it. Charged heavies will build the stagger meter quickly on the boss, allowing you to perform Obliterate attacks more frequently to take off huge chunks of its health. Make sure to equip the skill that lets you perform an instant-charged attack if you have Skyborn Might charge.

The second phase can get a bit tricky to deal with as the boss will become a lot faster. However, if you've pinned down the boss' moveset in the first phase and can easily dodge its attacks, you'll be able to handle the second phase as well. Just make sure to avoid the burn build-up to complete as Wuchang will lose a lot of health overtime.

If you're confident in evading the boss' attacks, try to engage him with the full gauge of Madness to deal extra damage.

If you're using the default longsword, make sure to use the Skyborn Might charged Blink Kick, followed by light attacks to both stagger and chip off Master Raider's health quickly. However, your main strategy should be to land Obliterate strikes on the boss, as much as you can. Once you've beaten Master Raider - Man-Eating Dhutanga, you'll receive the Copper Jug and the Lightzen Temple key in Wuchang Fallen Feathers. Use the key to progress to the next area.
