7 Brute Force Isn't A Bad Strategy

Brute forcing through Ziggurat 2 can work. A player who simply rushes into the roguelike can get pretty far progress-wise, even without knowing anything about the meta or what weapons are the absolute best. They wouldn’t need a guide to even progress past the beginning.

If a player doesn’t want to spend hours reading up on guides about the best weapons, and instead just wants to learn for themselves and play in their own style, it can get them quite far into the game. It may not be efficient in the grand scheme of the game-play, but this method of playing can work for many players.

6 Stay Away From Enemies

Players have figured out that one of the best strategies is to stay as far away from the enemies as possible. Because Ziggurat 2 is a first-person game, the player will have an arsenal of long ranged weapons at their disposal to use against any enemies that may come their way.

If players stay away from enemies, they will not only be able to have time to react to the enemy’s attacks, but they will also be able to attack them from a long range. An experienced player can go an entire level without being hit by an enemy.

5 Offense Is More Important Than Defense

It may sound odd, but some players have figured out that in Ziggurat 2, there is almost no reason to adopt a more defensive play-style. Although some may want to play more defensively, many players agree that it’s better to build a character to kill enemies as fast as possible in this roguelike.

Occasionally, a player will be able to choose between particular perks, which will allow them to tailor their play-style towards something more specific. As such, when a player is forced to choose between a perk tailored for defense versus a perk tailored towards offense, they should always choose the offensive perk instead of the defense one. This will get them farther in the game.

A player could invest more towards their defensive stats if they’re having trouble with protecting themselves, but as stated above, offensive perks tend to be more helpful. Instead, learning how to dodge an attack should be the end goal.

A well-timed dodge or roll can easily help the player evade an otherwise devastating attack. It’s a good skill to have while playing Ziggurat 2 – and almost any first-person shooter, for that matter – especially if a player is going for a high damage and low defense play-style, as is most effective in this game.

3 Look For Secret Rooms

Every level in Ziggurat 2 has a secret room for the player to discover and utilize. These secret rooms have a smorgasbord of useful things for a player to take advantage of, including free perks. These in particular are things a player would always want to get, as it will help to tune their character more towards their play-style for this roguelike.

To find a secret room, a player has to find a large vertical crack in the wall. Shoot the crack until the wall breaks, which will then reveal the secret room for the player to use.

2 Don’t Rush

There’s no need to rush through the game, unless a player is trying to do a speed-run. On top of missing helpful benefits like the secret rooms, there are many other items, like strong weapons, that a player will miss if they’re rushing through the game.

Players should take their time, slow down, and comb through each level of the game to find anything they might have missed. There is really no downside to going through the game thoroughly, while on the other hand, rushing through the game can have many downsides. If a player doesn’t know what to aim for to maximize their damage output, rushing can be detrimental and ruin the experience.

1 Learn What Weapons Work Best

One of the most important things about Ziggurat 2 is to learn what weapons are good, as the customization for weapons and perks can trip many players up on their first play-through. It's especially important to know what perks to combo with a player’s weapon of choice.

If a player were to find a very good weapon in the early game – such as a particular staff – it would then be a good idea to customize their perks in a way that directly aids the usage of that weapon. This often works better than the other way around — trying to find weapons that suit one's perks.
