Netflix's Arcane ended its two-season run in 2024, and the League of Legends series will not be coming back. While not flawless, Arcane was largely great and sits alongside the best animated shows of the 2020s. By the end of the decade, it will almost certainly still feature in that discussion, but it is hardly the only series to deliver a gripping story, brilliant action, and immersive worldbuilding. In fact, we have been living in something of a golden era for animated series, and Arcane is not its only masterpiece.

Blood of Zeus is an epic tale of betrayal, war, and enmity between mythology's most jealous beings: The Greek Gods. When the son of a humble woman is discovered to be the heir of Zeus, Hera becomes tremendously mad, and we all know how it goes from there. War, assassination attempts, and epic conflict are aplenty in a series that combines the best of modern animation with the classic myths from Olympus.

Though it has dropped a little bit in quality from season 1, the second delivery of this incredible tale doesn't disappoint fans of thrilling adventure and epic battles. This is a great series to watch if fans liked the pacing of Arcane.

Love, Death, & Robots isn't a single story, but an anthology of short stories filled with cyberpunk and sci-fantasy goodness. An astronaut stranded in Jupiter's orbit goes on a hallucinatory trip while oxygen slowly drains away. A young spirit hunter falls in love with his quarry. An elusive and mystical artist gives a reporter the interview of a lifetime. All these stories and many more are packaged together in ever-changing animation styles and narrated with different pacing.

It is quite a collection of cool animated features, storytelling styles, and a refreshing change from the vertiginous second season of Arcane. Since many fans were left disappointed with how this series ended, they should take a look at this collection of one-shots. They won't regret it.

There's a division in the audience any time people bring up Zach Snyder or any of his productions, but Twilight Of The Gods is surely one of the best things to have carried his name in the past decade. Inspired by Nordic folklore, it narrates the war between the Aesir and the Vanir. Blood, thunder, steel, and crumbling earth beneath their feet, all delivered in a powerful and convincing flow of storytelling.

An epic tale of revenge and rediscovery, set in an alternate version of the Japanese Edo period, where Geishas, Samurai, Ronin, and Daimjos roamed the lands. Both visually impactful and narratively appealing, Blue Eye Samurai is not like most of the Samurai tales audiences are used to.

It is narrated as a Western, but also deeply focused on respecting certain cultural aspects of classic Samurai cinema. The animation style is similar to series like Arcane, but the pacing might please fans of classic flicks like Yojimbo and Seven Samurai.

Based on the iconic Filipino folklore, this series, which is based on a comic book, narrates the story of Alexandra Trese, a supernatural detective and exorcist who protects regular humans from the forces of darkness that loom around the archipelago. One thing about this series: it's never boring. It's awesome, dark, gloomy, and its pacing goes from excellent to perfection in one fell swoop. This series is an emotional rollercoaster that is highly underrated but absolutely worthy of being watched.

If fans loved how Arcane deals with death in an unapologetic way, then Trese has death to spare. It has its uniqueness and a beautifully constructed world, though one more aligned with urban fantasy and horror than with adventure and tragedy.
