The blonde-haired character is a staple in life and media. In anime, this is even more so, since hair color goes a long way in a character’s personality. When a blonde character is introduced, they are usually expected to be cheerful and optimistic. They can also be described as ditzy, but this certainly isn’t the case with all of them.
The Most Iconic Male Anime Characters With White Hair
Unique hair colors are common in many anime series, and white hair is a standout. Here are the most famous male characters with white hair.
There have been several iconic blonde female characters in anime over the years, but some really stand out due to their character, importance to the story, personality, and design. Though not all the best blonde women in anime have been covered, here are some of the most distinctive.
Only one character per anime. Also, age doesn't matter.
Updated on October 27, 2025 by Mark Sammut: Blonde anime girls are not extremely common, as most shows tend to pick black or more colorful hair. However, some of the most iconic characters in history are blondes, and we have added a few more to this article.

KonoSuba has two of the most iconic female characters in the isekai genre: Megumin and Aqua. Completing the trio is Darkness, and she is generally the least popular member of Kazuma's party. Part of that perception has to do with her masochism trait, which dominates her characterization during the first two seasons. Fortunately, Lalatina takes center stage in KonoSuba season 3, allowing her to show more dimensions of her personality than was previously the case.
Ultimately, Darkness is the most forgettable core character in the series, but KonoSuba's popularity ensures she is still a poster child for the isekai genre as a whole. Being the worst of a great batch is nothing to be ashamed of, and she still has plenty of hilarious moments that make the most of her unique preferences.

Your Lie In April has the reputation it has today largely thanks to Kaori. As a character, she was a strong personality who was able to move forward despite what life had thrown at her. However, she was still deeply human and prone to faults and even discouragement.
Saddest Anime Character Deaths, Ranked
Here's a look at some heartbreaking deaths in anime, coupled with reasons why fans will never forget them.
Kaori is iconic in how she was able to change Arima Kousei’s life. She was able to bring him out of a deep well he had fallen into since his mother’s death, and her cheerful disposition to life was a stark contrast to Arima’s glumness. It was ironic that she was the one fighting against the hands of time, and by the end of the story, she had dashed a lot of hearts.

Fullmetal Alchemist has a surprising number of iconic blondes. Even in terms of just women, Winry Rockbell and Olivier Armstrong are two incredibly popular blonde anime characters. That said, Riza manages to stand out for her personality and prowess.
There is a lot to be impressed with when it comes to Riza, but what really catches attention is her calm demeanor and her incredible loyalty to Roy Mustang. It was even more impressive since she never looked subservient to Roy while still always by his side. On top of that, she was a skilled marksman and an empathetic character.

Due to targeting teenage boys, shonen rarely feature female protagonists, despite some of the most famous anime girls coming from the demographic. Consequently, Soul Eater's Maka Albarn really shines among her peers as a one-of-a-kind lead, even though her personality is fairly typical for a shonen MC. She is loud, brash, confident, kind, and energetic. Maka can play the part of an idiot at times, but she is no fool and regularly gets the better of her enemies (and companions).
Maka shares the spotlight with Soul, her far more immature Death Weapon. Together, they make an entertaining and deadly duo, and Maka just looks awesome when she wields Soul as a scythe. We need more shonen anime with female characters as protagonists, just to shake things up.

Violet was raised as a weapon of war, harboring only instincts to kill and destroy. As such, when she loses everything and is found unable to even construct speech, one might have thought that would be the end. However, Violet was determined to grow so she could understand what it was to love.
Violet is an anime character who is impossible to forget. A lot of this is because of her awesome design. Yet, she is more than that, as her determination to learn is something that made her a very likable character. She made it so that her metal hands, which were adept at destruction, could now be the creators of comfort, peace, and love.

Misa Amane became a major character in Death Note much later in the series. As a celebrity who also possessed the Shinigami eyes, she became an accomplice of Kira and Light's romantic partner (not that he actually cared about her). She was manipulated to the end and could not fathom a world without Light, which led her to end it all after his demise.
As a character, Misa is memorable due to her undying loyalty to a clearly evil person. Behind the curtain, however, was an idealist who wanted a better world. She might not be a role model in the strictest sense, but she is iconic as a caution to the dangers of losing oneself due to devotion.

Naruto is led by an iconic blonde, but Naruto doesn't qualify, despite his mastery of gender-bender jutsu. However, Tsunade stands as one of the most identifiable characters from the show, which is no easy feat as the anime's cast is filled with almost exclusively memorable figures. Compared to most other anime female blondes, Tsunade is far more mature and experienced, as she is in her 50s during the main series.
Tsunade has been through a lot of pain and suffering, and she is intimately familiar with loss. While we primarily get to see her as the Fifth Hokage, a role she takes on reluctantly but excels at, we do get flashbacks to her younger days that chronicle her struggles and successes.

Oshino Shinobu used to be the powerful vampire, Kiss-Shot Acerola-Orion Heart-Under-Blade, which is a mouthful, but after losing her powers, she first resided in the ruins of Eikou cram school, before becoming Araragi’s shadow. She’s a character who takes some getting used to, but she is brilliant once understood.
Monogatari: 5 Best Heroines, Ranked
Among the handful of Monogatari heroines, who stands tall above the rest?
She first appeared in Bakemonogatari but was also featured in other entries in the Monogatari series, most especially Kizumonogatari. She has a complicated relationship with Araragi and is a pretty fun tsundere character. Her character arc, which spans multiple stories, is compelling, and that is one of the reasons she is such a popular character.

Lucy is the character from Fairy Tail through whom the story is actually told. Usually overshadowed by the prominence of Natsu Dragneel, many forget just how pivotal Lucy is to everything. She is perhaps the most powerful celestial wizard in the world with ten golden celestial keys as well as being the entry point of the audience.
Lucy is also a character who grows significantly over the course of the story, starting as insecure but evolving to become a lot more confident, strong, and steadfast. Her bonds with Fairy Tail say a lot about what sort of guild they are, seeing how quickly they accepted her as one of their own. She also has some pretty heartfelt moments in the story, and she does a good job of making the audience care about her and her comrades.
