The Musketeer in Crystal of Atlan is a very fun class to play in the early opening hours of the game, but the skill trees can seem a little overwhelming at first, with so many versatile options for players to pick. Being a ranged class with lots of mobility, it is great for damage-dealing, and is capable of dealing large amounts of Burn damage.

Of course, as with any class, the right build is essential. Here is a recommended early game selection of skills for the Musketeer and what players should do for their specialty class in Crystal of Atlan.

The Best Musketeer Skills in Crystal of Atlan

Musketeer-Tree

As a Musketeer, players will start with Levitating Shot, Flame Burst, High-Explosive Landmine, Slide Attack and Aerial Bombing as their main skills. The best attacks to concentrate on are Flame Burst and Slide Attack for easy AOE damage, as well as Aerial Bombing.

  • Flame Burst: Fires a burning grenade ahead, which explodes in midair and crashes to the ground. This deals DMG to a large area and continuously burn the area, Scorching enemies.
  • Slide Attack: Perform a quick slide, knocking any enemies that get hit into the air.
  • Aerial Bombing: Throw three grenades forward and detonate them, dealing DMG in a wide area.

The best passive talents for this build are those that improve the key skills. Fast Pursuit enhances the ending of Slide Attack, allowing for three additional hits after casting Slide Attack letting players extend the knockdown from the initial hit. This is a great choice for keeping the combo meter going and extending crowd control effects on smaller enemies. Improved Thickened Gasoline enhances Flame Burst's range and burn damage, making it a must for the early game. The puddle will be larger and deal larger burn ticks with this talent picked.

There are also a couple of other passive skills to look at, the main one being Gun-Fu, which raises critical hit damage for all damage sources. Gun-Fu's passive will apply to any damage-dealing attack, so this is a must-have for all builds.

Until Level 15, the best skills to put the most points into should be Flame Burst, Slide Attack, and Aerial Bombing. These will be the three main damage-dealing sources for heavy AOE. Then, make sure to put all four points into Gun-Fu for high critical damage as well. At Level 10, players will gain access to two extra skills. While they are not entirely necessary, Spiral Cut does offer AOE damage and will debuff the enemy with a Weak Armor Break effect, letting them take additional damage. It's a decent choice for certain weapons that offer additional critical damage and builds centered around debuffing the enemy.

Depending on how players want to build their Musketeer in the early game, they may want to change out Flame Burst or place more emphasis on Levitating Shot for more crowd control, as Levitating Shot also executes a knockdown that stuns enemies. This results in more straight physical damage over Flame Burst, which only casts a Scorching effect with no knockdown. Putting more points into each skill enhances its damage and effects, so it is best to change point allocations to see what works the best in what situation players can end up in.

The Best Branch Class For the Musketeer

Gunner-Preview
The Gunner class preview in Crystal of Atlan.

At Level 15, players will gain access to a Class Branch quest. This will allow them to select a specialty class, which will unlock a unique set of skills and weapons. For the Musketeer, these two options are the Gunner and the Bounty Hunter.

Bounty Hunter

The Bounty Hunter is centered around agility and positioning, with a passive ability that lets players gain movement speed after dodging an attack. The Bounty Hunter also gains an elemental buff — Ice, Fire, Electric, or Dark — and can deal damage with that element. This class is very flashy, with fast, agile movement and attack speed. Combined with a late-game passive that boosts damage after performing 20 successful hits, this is a decent choice for players that build from repetition of hits rather than one-off, big attacks that deal damage in bursts.

Gunner

The Gunner is a stance-based class with a heat gauge that allows players to build up damage as the gauge gets higher. The Gunner has three different modes that change how the basic attack functions based on the heat gauge. These include a melee mode, grenade mode, and electromagnetic mode. This class thrives on managing resources and keeping the heat gauge up to deal the most damage, and makes for an excellent choice for doing damage at any range due to the versatility of each stance. All in all, the Gunner is a solid choice for solo players with the huge versatility of range and melee, making it the best class to pick for later dungeons for solo runs or even in groups.

If players want the best variety of utility and power, the Gunner is the better choice of the two due to heavy AOE and varying status damage being available from different attacks and stances. Gunners also make excellent solo running classes, due to how strong they are with crowd control and how much damage they deal to large crowds at any range.
