Once Human offers players a wide variety of gear and an even larger selection of mods to make builds with. With so many choices available, some players may find themselves indecisive about which ones to use, especially since getting the necessary equipment for all of them requires a lot of time and resources.
While far from a complete list of best Once Human builds, the following is a guide that briefly touches over some of the strongest ones we've tried out so far. They serve as good baselines for their respective themes and effects, leaving players plenty of space to tinker with. Whether you're fighting other players or the big bosses in Once Human, the following builds will help you come out on top.
Once Human: All New Deviants in Way of Winter & How To Get Them
Once Human’s Way of Winter PvE scenario introduced seven new Deviants to the game. Here’s how you can get them all.
Mods can be obtained from chests, bosses, and Securement Silos. However, exact sources may differ based on what scenario you're playing on.

Shrapnel builds were very popular during the first-ever scenarios for Once Human for a reason. The Shrapnel weapon effect lets players tear through enemies like paper, and it could be modified to spec for crit, weakspot hits, or no-reload setups. This Once Human Shrapnel build sacrifices your weapon's ability to hit weakspots to increase your crit stats while making Shrapnel restore ammo to your magazine when the effect itself hits weakspots.

Power Surge is much like Shrapnel in terms of playstyle. Dump entire magazines into your enemies and watch as they take bursts of Electric damage from your shots. It's slightly more useful in PvP thanks to Power Surge reducing the accuracy of targets, but in so far as PvE is concerned, it's an excellent choice if you prefer Status DMG over Weapon DMG.

Unstable Bomber with the DE. 50 Jaws combines status damage with high critical hit stats to make a truly explosive build combo. This Once Human Unstable Bomber build lets players trigger Unstable Bomber more often with every critical hit they score, essentially giving you two sources of big damage. It's an excellent build for PvE and PvP — the DE. 50 Jaws is very ammo efficient, and if your regular bullets don't take enemies down, the following Unstable Bomber procs will.

This Once Human Unstable Bomber sniper build is a slightly slower-paced version of the one above. Instead of the DE. 50 Jaws, this build uses the Gulped Lore Sniper Rifle, which has a stronger per-shot damage profile. Using this weapon in close-medium range is difficult, but not impossible, and it may even be the better Unstable Bomber build if you're looking for raw damage. Make sure to aim for those weakspots!

The Fast Gunner weapon effect buffs your gun's damage and rate of fire, and what better weapon archetype to use such an effect on than light machine guns. When built properly, players using the MG4 Predator LMG can unleash a hail of roughly 200 bullets before needing to reload. This is often enough to burn through a massive chunk of a boss' health bar or clear an entire room full of enemies. This Once Human Fast Gunner build requires a bit of investment, but it's worth trying out if you're a fan of rapid-fire weapons.
Swap Dust Mask with Oasis if you want more DPS at the cost of less ammo per magazine.

Burn DMG can be a little underwhelming, but while it lacks the visual punch and feedback of other elemental status effects, there's no denying that it can do some serious damage. This Once Human Burn Build is all about stacking as much Burn effects on enemies as possible, maximizing the damage you deal over time on top of your regular bullet hits. It's not as efficient against big groups of weaker enemies, but it will definitely leave a mark on the health bars of big bosses.
You can use this build with just the KAM Crank if you want to focus on just Burn DoTs. KVD Boom Boom is great for clearing crowds, but it's not mandatory if you want to prioritize single-target Burn DMG.
