Best Upgrades to Get First in Cronos: The New Dawn

Cronos The New Dawn Upgrade Menu

When players step into the world of Cronos: The New Dawn, they'll visit several safe areas that contain a save point, a storage box, and a Workstation terminal. Interacting with the Workstation terminal will allow you to buy resources and sell various valuable items acquired during exploration. The Workstation also features a dedicated upgrades tab, which will allow you to spend Cores and Energy on upgrading various properties of the suit and weapons.

Here's a list of the best upgrades that you should get early on in Cronos: The New Dawn.

Type

Best Upgrades

Reason

Temporal Shell (Suit)

Inventory Slots

Although resources are scarce, players will need to have enough space in their limited inventory to store items when they finally get them. Increasing the inventory space prevents you from leaving behind any ammo, valuables, or Cores (upgrade materials) due to running out of space.

Resource Limit

The upgrade will increase the maximum cap on crafting resources like Chemicals or Metal Scraps. They're crucial resources to help you craft ammo or healing items on the go, so increasing this should be a top priority.

Torch (Flamethrower)

Burning Time

Flamethrower is a great secondary weapon to inflict AOE burn damage to enemies surrounding you. Increasing the burning will prolong the burn damage on enemies, staggering them for even longer.

Sword MK-1615 (Handgun)

Firepower

This will increase the overall damage of the handgun, which will result in less ammo used per enemy.

Stability

The Handgun is used for precise shooting, as players will mostly be aiming it at the heads or limbs of enemies. Stability greatly increases the gun sway, making it easier for players to land their shots.

Clip

While the handgun has a decent clip size, increasing it will allow you to free up some inventory space as you'll be carrying more ammo in the Handgun itself. It's more of a strategic way to inventory management, rather than an utmost necessity.

Hammer PROV-2030 (Shotgun)

Firepower

The Shotgun offers great firepower from the get-go, especially if you're landing charged shots at enemies. Increasing its firepower will further enhance its damage per shot. This is necessary as players can carry significantly less ammo for it, per inventory slot, compared to the Handgun.

Charge Speed

It takes significantly longer for players to charge up their shots with the Shotgun. Hence, it's important that you upgrade its charge speed to dish out damage more quickly.

Clip

Similar reasoning to the one given for the Handgun clip upgrade.
