2024 was a great year for anime fans, with many new hits released throughout this year. With so many great anime coming out, anime fans got to see many interesting female characters on screen, both new characters, as well as returning characters from old series.

10 Mina Ashiro

Kaiju No. 8 was released in April 2024 and was immediately a huge hit among many anime fans. Mina Ashiro is a fan favorite from the anime, and she quite easily holds the title of most popular female character from this series. She made her appearance at the very beginning of the anime’s first episode.
Mina holds the title of Third Division Captain and has shown to be a very capable leader who can hold her ground well.
9 Turbo Granny
A Major Antagonist Momo and Okarun Faced

Turbo Granny is a very interesting character from Dandadan. She is a yokai who serves as the first major antagonist Momo and Okarun face together.
At first, she shows a very cruel side of herself, but at the end of her confrontation with Momo and Okarun, her soft and caring side was revealed. Turbo Granny was revealed to comfort the souls of girls who died in horrible ways. Turbo Granny, for now, still plays a role in the story since she is inside of a cat doll.
8 Akane Tendo

Ranma 1/2 saw a new anime adaptation released this year. This new adaptation introduced this long beloved manga to a younger audience. One of the main characters of the series, Akane Tendo, is quite an interesting female character.
Her family had her get engaged to Ranma, and while their relationship starts with some hardships, especially with the latter's odd gender-shifting power, she manages to carve out space for herself as a very compelling female character.
7 Kana Arima

Oshi No Ko was an instant hit with anime fans when it dropped, so naturally, when it returned in 2024 with a new season, fans were delighted. Oshi No Ko has many interesting female characters, but one of the most popular is undoubtedly Kana Arima.
As a child, Kana had an extremely large ego from being praised as a genius child actor, but she eventually matured as her attitude started to make her lose work.

One cannot mention Toga without talking about Ochaco. These two had a phenomenal fight in MHA’s latest anime season. This fight definitely moved many fans, especially with its tragic conclusion for Toga.
Ochaco showed the extent of her quirk during this fight and fought with all her might. In the end, she was saved by Toga. Toga’s death still holds weight on Ochaco’s life.

Momo Ayase is the main character of the newest hit anime Dandadan. Dandadan has been a fan favorite anime since its debut this year, and actually has quite a few interesting female characters, Momo being one of them.

Her relationship with Jinshi is also one of the most interesting parts of the anime, and her character keeps fans hooked as they discover the truth about her parents and childhood.
