Baldur's Gate 3 is an absolutely massive game, which meant that there weren't many reviews published for it on launch day. Baldur's Gate 3 reviews have been trickling out in the days since, but many major publications have yet to sound off on the game. Because of this, Baldur's Gate 3's overall review score is still in flux and will almost certainly change. The question is whether it will get bigger, stay the same, or eventually drop below Tears of the Kingdom.
There's also the fact that Baldur's Gate 3 has yet to release on all platforms to take into account. The Baldur's Gate 3 PS5 port is still a few weeks away, and when that version of the game drops, fans can expect even more reviews to be posted. This will be important for some review aggregate sites, like OpenCritic for instance, but since Metacritic organizes games by platform, the PS5 port shouldn't impact the PC version's score on that specific site.
Larian has a long history of delivering high quality console versions of its games, and so there's no reason to suspect that the PS5 version of Baldur's Gate 3 will be any different. Barring any unforeseen issues, Baldur's Gate 3's high review scores should leave console gamers hyped for what's to come.
Baldur's Gate 3 is out now for PC with a PS5 version coming September 6. An Xbox version of the game is also in development.
