Black Myth Wukong is an example of the latter, being heavily inspired by the well-known Journey To The West, a novel written in 16th-century China and attributed to Wu Cheng'en. The player controls the central character based on Sun Wukong, and delves heavily into Chinese Mythology. However, with such a popular game, once finished, it can leave players craving more, be that in gameplay, or narrative and mythology. Enslaved: Odyssey To The West is a fairly unknown game, much unlike Black Myth Wukong. It is similarly inspired by Journey To The West, albeit as a loose adaptation set in a post-apocalyptic world.

The gameplay isn't exactly the same, with many differences between the two games. It is a third-person action game, with the main character, named Monkey, using a staff to defeat enemies. It is a bit more of a wacky title compared to Black Myth Wukong. However, it can be a worthwhile experience for anyone wanting another adaptation of Journey To The West after having played Black Myth Wukong.

Gameplay is quite similar to Black Myth Wukong, with a third-person perspective, filled with lots of attacking and fast movement. Wo Long aims for players to parry attacks instead of dodging, with a variety of difficult bosses to test the limits of a player's skill.
