Discourse regarding Xbox Game Pass's long-term viability has been heating up recently; however, purely from a consumer perspective, Microsoft's subscription service has arguably never been better. In just 2025, Game Pass has received Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, South of Midnight, 33 Immortals, Ninja Gaiden 2 Black, Eternal Strands, Avowed, Grounded 2, Atomfall, Doom: The Dark Ages, FBC: Firebreak, Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 + 4, Wuchang: Fallen Feathers, and Gears of War: Reloaded, and that list only takes Day One games into account. Safe to say, subscribers have been eating well.
So far, September 2025's Game Pass games lineup is shaping up to be a contender for the best of the year, which is saying something. A couple of titles have already been added, while a few more are confirmed to be coming; heck, there is a good chance Microsoft will reveal a few more arrivals in the second half of the month. As it is difficult to play everything, let's highlight the month's best newcomers, including one of the biggest indie darlings of the year.
We are covering all of September 2025, so even games that have already been added to Game Pass.

Due to another title debuting on Game Pass just two days later, I Am Your Beast flew by largely unnoticed, and it will definitely not be remembered as the month's standout newbie. That said, if you happen to be craving fast-paced, chaotic action that is absolutely perfect for short gaming sessions, there are few better options on Game Pass. While not totally absent, the story does not matter, as it is merely a framing device to encourage glorious arcade-style slaughter. You are a super soldier tasked with quickly and viciously completing missions, which often involve taking out a small army of enemies as efficiently and gloriously as possible.
I Am Your Beast is a relentless shooter that refuses to slow down for even a single moment, challenging you to constantly move, fire, stab, and trigger explosions. Although not extremely deep by any stretch of the imagination, the game is just simple fun, all the while scratching that speedrun itch that can be so addictive. Just download I Am Your Beast and give it a go; I promise, you will not regret it.
Best FPS Games On Xbox Game Pass
The Xbox Game Pass library is full of celebrated first-person shooter titles, and here is a look at the best FPS games available to play.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
2025's Biggest Indie Game Debuted On Game Pass On September 4
Hollow Knight: Silksong

- Everyone 10+ / Fantasy Violence, Mild Blood
- Developer(s)
- Team Cherry
- Platform(s)
- PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch 2, Nintendo Switch, PC
So far, September 2025 has produced a few great games, and they have ALL been overshadowed by Hollow Knight: Silksong. In August, Team Cherry not only confirmed that the long-awaited sequel would arrive on September 4 but that it would be available on Xbox Game Pass. To say this news was massive would be an understatement, and Silksong has largely managed to do the impossible: live up to the hype.
Yes, the game is frustratingly difficult and includes some divisive mechanics, but these criticisms are minor. You can also tweak some of them using Silksong mods, which also work with the PC Game Pass version. Hollow Knight's successor is just as beautiful, haunting, addictive, and ambitious, delivering a campaign that is 100% consistent with its predecessor without ever feeling like a rehash. Hornet, the new playable character, starts somewhat slow and weak, but improves considerably as she learns new skills that enhance the fantastic combat. The platforming is tight, while the expansive levels are complex but fun to explore. Silksong is not perfect, but it comes close.

- PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S
Every release is an acquired taste, but certain titles are designed for very specific tongues. Saber's RoadCraft is about running a company that specializes in reaching and traversing devastated places, so you need to use the right trucks to get the job done. It is a business-driving sim by the developer behind MudRunner, SnowRunner, and Expeditions: A MudRunner Game.
RoadCraft does not really need to be sold. If the basic concept sounds good to you, just stop reading here and prepare for its Game Pass debut. If it does not spike your interest, then the game might not be for you. If you are on the fence because you generally find these types of projects overwhelming, RoadCraft might be worth consideration, and it is less challenging and punishing than, for example, SnowRunner.
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
Addictive Roguelite Coming To Game Pass On September 17
Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor
- Released
- September 17, 2025
Coming To Game Pass Ultimate, Console, & PC Game Pass
- ESRB
- Teen / Violence, Blood, Use of Tobacco, Drug Reference, Mild Language
- Developer(s)
- Funday Games
- Genre(s)
- Shoot 'em Up, Roguelike, Action
- Platform(s)
- Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC
After a lengthy spell in early access, Deep Rock Galactic: Survivor is finally set to make its full debut on September 17, which will coincide with the release of the Xbox Series X/S version. While Deep Rock Galactic is one of the best co-op games on Game Pass, Survivor takes things in a distinct direction, delivering an auto-shooter isometric roguelite that is single-player.
On paper, DRG: Survivor sounds wildly different from its bigger brother, yet the spin-off manages to scratch a similar itch. Both games feature well-defined classes built around a satisfying progression system that rewards new mechanics for reaching milestones. The gameplay loop blends auto combat with a constant need to mine resources for upgrades, striking a chord that is fairly identical to Deep Rock Galactic. If you love DRG, Survivor is a must-play. If you have never played DRG, fix that and also try Survivor. If you, for some reason, hate DRG, still play Survivor.
Frostpunk 2 (Xbox Series X/S)
The Best Survival City-Builder Comes To Xbox Game Pass On September 18
Frostpunk 2
- Released
- September 20, 2024
Coming To Game Pass Ultimate & Console. Already On PC Game Pass.
- ESRB
- M For Mature 17+ Due To Blood, Drug Reference, Sexual Themes, Strong Language, Violence
- Developer(s)
- 11 Bit Studios
- Xbox Series X|S Release Date
- September 18, 2025
- Genre(s)
- Strategy, Survival, City Builder
- Platform(s)
- PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S
Frostpunk 2 has been on PC Game Pass for roughly a year, so it is not exactly a new arrival; however, 11 Bit Studios will be releasing the console version on September 18, providing the game to Xbox-only users. Generally, city-builders work far better on PCs than consoles, but the first Frostpunk made the transition successfully. 11 Bit took its time to ensure that the sequel would maintain its predecessor's standards (and to fix some of the PC version's technical issues), so the upcoming port will hopefully be awesome.
Frostpunk 2 is quite a different experience from its predecessor, largely due to the sheer scale of the campaign. Rather than focusing on a small (by city-builder standards) city with a few hundred citizens, you can take charge of multiple colonies and thousands of people. This change gives the game a fairly different feel, almost to the point of leaning into 4X territory. As such, there is no guarantee that a fondness for the original release will translate to a love for the sequel; however, they are both great strategy games in their own right.
Best Multiplayer Games On Xbox Game Pass
Xbox Game Pass features a trove of multiplayer titles, both competitive and co-op. These are the best of them.
