August has proven to be one of the busiest months of the year for game releases in general, but especially for PS5 owners. Over the last few weeks, a plethora of new releases and console ports have made their way over to the PS5, including a former Xbox-exclusive title that many thought would never grace PlayStation hardware with Gears of War: Reloaded. With the weekend now upon us, it's worth taking a look at some of the week's more noteworthy new releases and ports that PS5 owners may want to devote some time to this weekend, especially ahead of the start of September and an even more hectic release schedule.
Shinobi: Art of Vengeance
Just a few weeks after getting a 2D revival of the Ninja Gaiden franchise, Sega and Lizardcube have finally delivered the same for Shinobi. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance will undoubtedly be compared to Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound, but it's actually a different kind of ninja game altogether, veering further into Metroidvania territory than you might expect and ultimately standing out as a vastly different (but just as good) experience because of it. If Ninja Gaiden: Ragebound is all about swift movement and nonstop action, Shinobi: Art of Vengeance is its more deliberate cousin with weightier combat that only continues to get better as players progress and unlock more of Joe Musashi's upgrades and abilities.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater
After what felt like an eternity of waiting, Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater is finally here, and it seems to have delivered on just about everything fans would want from a faithful remake of what's arguably the Metal Gear franchise's high point. Metal Gear Solid 3 still holds up incredibly well in a modern context, which makes the subtle but effective additions that Delta provides all the more noticeable and welcome. And with the Metal Gear Solid series long having an association with PlayStation hardware, it almost just feels right to fire up Metal Gear Solid Delta on a PS5 to take in its visually impressive rendition of the Soviet jungle.

Delta Force
After roughly a year of being a PC-exclusive title, military extraction shooter Delta Force finally made its way to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S last week, and it's continuing to climb the ranks as one of the more popular free-to-play games on either platform. Cheaters are still a persistent annoyance on the console version — much like they are on PC — but developer Team Jade is actively working to address the problem, banning more than 20,000 cheaters over the course of the last week and thwarting cheating efforts through the enactment of a 10-year ban if caught. It's a good thing, too, because there's plenty to like about Delta Force and its myriad of different modes.

Lost Soul Aside
One of the many highly anticipated games releasing this week is Lost Soul Aside, which launched today for PC and PlayStation 5. Reviews are still continuing to trickle in, which point to its story and characters being somewhat disappointing, but contrasted against an incredibly enjoyable combat sandbox with more than a little Devil May Cry influence. If you're looking for an action RPG that leans more toward the former than the latter, Lost Soul Aside could be a great option for a PS5 game to dive into this weekend.

Gears of War: Reloaded
Dedicated PlayStation users have been eagerly anticipating the Gears of War franchise to make its way to the platform since the first entry launched back in 2006. Nearly 20 years later, it's finally happened courtesy of the latest remaster of the original game in the franchise, Gears of War: Reloaded. Having already jumped in with some friends earlier this week, I can attest that Gears of War: Reloaded is still just as fun today as it was back on the Xbox 360 all those years ago, and it's almost surreal to be playing it with a DualSense controller. With the game having just launched this week, the weekend is likely going to be one of the best times to hop into some online matchmaking for competitive or co-op play.
