Death Stranding is another big PlayStation game that was released in 2019 with an open-world design. The overall structure followed a delivery man in the apocalypse who had to be wary of environmental trappings and looters. There were also invisible entities known as BTs that could snatch players into another dimension, which is where the horror aspects came into play.

Silent Hill 2’s remake and Silent Hill: The Short Message brought the series back from the dead in 2024.
