Left 4 Dead 2: 5 Worst Guns & Weapons That Should Be Avoided
When fighting off Infected in Left 4 Dead 2, players should usually grab any weapon that's nearby. Some, however, are best avoided.
As an older game, it falls to the mod community to improve, extend, and in some cases fix problems for Left 4 Dead 2. However, this is still a popular game, despite the fact it was released back in 2009, so the modding community has released some great mods over the years. Some do simple things such as changing textures, while others add completely new content to this horror game.

For Low-End Hardware

A great many mods for older games, such as Left 4 Dead 2, aim to improve the graphics of the game. However, this mod does the complete opposite. The FPS Boost reduces certain graphic elements to improve the performance of the game, which is great for people that play on older hardware.
Left 4 Dead 2: 13 Of The Best Custom Campaigns
Valve's epic zombie-slaying FPS Left 4 Dead 2 has been bolstered by its dedicated modding community, and here are some of the best modded campaigns.
Some of the eye candy that has been removed or reduced in this mod includes motion blur, spent cartridges being produced, blood spatters, and bullet holes. The result is a mod that smooths out gameplay during frantic combat, and opens up the game to people who don’t have proper gaming hardware to play on.
6 Improved Bots
Better Companion AI
- Mod author: Dziggy
- Download link: Improved Bots
The Improved Bots mod for Left 4 Dead 2 does exactly what the name suggests. It attempts to improve the AI of player companions, to make them more useful and effective in combat. This was always a complaint with the original game, as companions could be next to useless at times in this zombie game.
When installing this mod, the player may need to download and install a specific dependency named SourceMod. Some players have reported needing this dependency, others have not. However, once the mod is working, the improvement in the behavior of companions will be noticeable.
5 ENB With SweetFX For Left 4 Dead 2
Vastly Improved Graphics

- Download link: ENB With SweetFX For Left 4 Dead 2
Left 4 Dead 2 is quite an old game now, having been released way back in 2009. And with most older games, it is starting to look a little long in the tooth. Luckily, there are some easily applied technologies that can improve the graphics of older games. All it takes is some committed modder to implement them.
The Download link: ENB With SweetFFX For Left 4 Dead 2 does just this. It uses SweetFX to enhance images, shading, and lighting in Left 4 Dead 2. The mod author has included several.ini files with the mod package, that players can use to tweak the SweetFX settings.
4 The Professional Scope
Better Ranged Weapon Aiming
- Mod author: RedSchism
- Download link: The Professional Scope
Sometimes a mod is released for a game that does something so simple, that it is hard to believe it was actually worth developing, but turns out to be one of the best mods for the game. The Professional Scope for Left 4 Dead 2 is such a mod.
All this mod does, is replace the original sniper rifle scope, with an improved version that is much smoother, and has an aiming chevron. Furthermore, with a couple of command line tweaks, this mod can be made to turn off the standard crosshairs when aiming down the scope.
3 Left 4 Dead 2 - 4K Remastered Pre-Rendered Cutscenes
Better Full Motion Video

Left 4 Dead 2: 10 Things You Never Knew They Cut From The Game
Despite the great content in Left 4 Dead 2, several features were actually scrapped before release. What didn't make it into the final game?
As a byproduct of installing this mod, it has been reported that previous problems with the release versions of the cut scenes stuttering, have been completely solved. The mod author has obviously gone to great effort to ensure the new remastered cut scenes are as high-quality as they can be, and this really shows.
2 Low-Resolution Texture Fixes (All-in-One)
Updates To Original Textures

- Download link: Low-Resolution Texture Fixes (All-in-One)
When the original version of Left 4 Dead 2 shipped, there were a number of game models with low-resolution textures. This was possibly an oversight on the part of the developers. This mod corrects the problem with the original textures.
The mod author has spent a lot of time, finding out which game models had low-resolution textures, such as computer monitors, household electrical items, and garbage cans. They have then remastered the stock texture to be twice the size of the original. This makes quite an impact on the visuals, adding clarity to this older FPS game.
1 The Seal of Asrahmat
Short Halloween Campaign
- Mod author: Imaculata
- Download link: The Seal of Asrahmat
This mod is a great little content drop for Left 4 Dead 2. It adds an entirely playable, Halloween-themed campaign to the game. It has been fully scripted, and the environment uses custom models, sounds, and ambient music.
There are quite a few puzzles that the player will need to solve to be able to get to the finale of this short campaign, and this involves tracking down hidden items and discovering secret locations. Overall, this is a great little mod that brings something fun to Left 4 Dead 2.
