Necron are one of the available factions to play as in Dawn of War Definitive Edition. The Necron were once a flesh and blood race that has become an undying robotic legion, with the goal of reclaiming the galaxy as their own empire.
In Dawn of War Definitive Edition, players can use multiple Necron units to dominate the battlefield, though some are much more useful than others. Here are the best Necron units that you should aim to use in every game. This article will leave out Scarabs since they are the best utility unit, but serve no use in combat.
Warhammer 40K: The 15 Most Expensive Miniatures You Can Buy
Warhammer 40K isn't a cheap hobby, but these incredible figures take that to a new, expensive height.
Immortals
- Cost: 135 Power
- Infantry Supply: 2
Immortals are the anti-vehichle infantry unit of the Necron army. While they can't be built right away, they are a decent choice for the mid-game to take on vehicles without starting to dig into your vehicle command limit.
Immortals also have a great melee option, leaving them not entirely useless against other infantry if they can get in close. Dead immortals also have a chance of getting back up on death, making them a difficult unit to take down unless it's an anti-infantry infantry unit.
Pariahs
- Cost: 200 Power
- Infantry Supply: 4
Pariahs dominate melee combat, coming with a decently large health pool and powerful melee attacks that also debuff their targets. Enemies hit by Pariahs have a slower movement speed and will lose their maximum health, making this a great unit to fight on the front lines of your army.
While this unit won't do much against vehicles, there are very few infantry squads that can take them on one-on-one. The Power cost and infantry supply cost may be high, but it's always worthwhile to have at least one of these units in your army.
Flayed Ones
- Cost: 120 Power
- Infantry Supply: 3
Flayed Ones may not have the highest health, but their true value comes in how they enter the battlefield. Once built, Flayed Ones can teleport to anywhere on the map without exception, letting you instantly support any front, no matter how big the map you're playing on is.
Warhammer 40k: 10 Strongest War Machines Of Chaos, Ranked
In Warhammer 40k, the forces of Chaos have several powerful war machines at their disposal. These are the best of the bunch.
Flayed Ones deal a good bit of damage in melee combat, though they don't have any ranged option to speak of. Whenever killed, there is also a small chance a Flayed One will get back up and start fighting again.
Tomb Spyder
- Cost: 250 Power
- Vehicle Supply: 2
Tomb Spyders are an incredible support option and should just about never be on the front lines of combat. Tomb Spyders' main offensive tactic is to create Scarabs from its own health, though these Scarab Swarms will quickly overwhelm enemies despite their low individual stats.
Tomb Spyders can also go around and restore destroyed Necron to get them back up, letting you not waste resources or time recreating units and waiting for them to walk back to the front lines.
Heavy Destroyer
- Cost: 300 Power
- Vehicle Supply: 3
The Heavy Destroyer is the closest thing the Necron have to a tank in Dawn of War. This unit moves incredibly fast, which is ideal for some of the larger maps available in the game.
This unit should really only be used against vehicles, as the regular Destroyer variant is great against infantry. The high cost and requirements to build one make this a late-game unit for sure, but it will be well worth the wait and dominate against enemy armor for the rest of the game.
Necron Warriors
- Cost: 0 Power
- Infantry Supply: 3
Necron Warriors are the basic Necron unit, and they're completely free to build. These units excel against any enemy that isn't a vehicle, especially Space Marine scouts. Both in terms of health and damage output, Necron Warriors are great in ranged or melee combat, and will dominate the early parts of a game.
Warhammer 40K: Strongest Space Marine Chapters
Warhammer 40K has featured a number of space marine chapters, but among them, which are the most powerful?
It's recommended you build as many Necron Warriors as possible right out of the bat to overwhelm your enemies with arguably the best starting unit in the game. Necron Warriors also have the chance of getting up after being destroyed, making them even more deadly.
Necron Lord
- Cost: 250 Power
- Limit: 1
The Necron Lord is the main character that the Necron can build, and you're limited to only one. This unit is a decent option in combat and can also teleport a good distance to help you get him wherever you need help.
The main appeal for this unit is that it can become a shard of a C'tan, either the Nightbringer or Deceiver. This is a timed transformation, and after it reverts, there is only a cooldown until it can transform again. These C'tan are the strongest units in the game, and can dominate any battle, and a Necron Lord is required to use them temporarily. Getting the C'tan forms requires the Essence of the C'tan Gods upgrade purchased in an Energy Core.
