On Tuesday, September 2, PlayStation Plus subscribers can look forward to playing one of the best games of all time in Stardew Valley. The monthly free PlayStation Plus games vary wildly in quality, but there are times when subscribers are treated to some truly spectacular experiences.
At the time of this writing, subscribers still have time to claim the free PS Plus games for August 2025, which consist of Lies of P, DayZ, and My Hero One's Justice 2. Many PS Plus subscribers were happy to get Lies of P for free, as the challenging Soulslike is often considered one of the best in its genre. Lies of P also recently received a critically-acclaimed expansion, so PS Plus subscribers that have enjoyed the game can check out even more content.

Stardew Valley Will Be Free on PS Plus in September
September 1 will be the last day that PS Plus subscribers can claim Lies of P and the other free games for August 2025, but more freebies are right around the corner. The free PS Plus games for September 2025 will be available on Tuesday, September 2, and include Psychonauts 2, Stardew Valley, and Viewfinder. The September 2025 PS Plus lineup is one of the strongest of the year so far, with Stardew Valley standing out as one of the best games ever made. The farming/life sim Stardew Valley has enjoyed widespread critical acclaim since it was first released in 2016 and remains incredibly popular to this day. Substantial free updates have kept Stardew Valley fans engaged with the game and have propelled it to become one of the most successful indie games of all time. PS Plus subscribers that have yet to play Stardew Valley for themselves should mark their calendars accordingly, as they will be able to get it completely free of charge on September 2.
That's not to say that the other free PS Plus games for September 2025 are slouches. On the contrary, Psychonauts 2 is an incredible 3D platformer that has also earned critical acclaim. Viewfinder is a great puzzle game as well that should appeal to fans of games like Portal, so all things considered, the free PS Plus games for September 2025 have a lot to offer.
The downside is that, considering Stardew Valley's dizzying popularity, there's a good chance that many PS Plus subscribers already have the game in their digital libraries. If so, they will understandably not be as excited about the free PS Plus games for the September 2025 lineup, but for those that have yet to check out Stardew Valley, September's offerings should be some of the best the year has to offer. As a reminder, the free PlayStation Plus games are available to subscribers across the Essential, Extra, and Premium tiers, so all PS Plus subscribers will be able to claim Stardew Valley, Psychonauts 2, and Viewfinder come Tuesday, September 2.
