Recent Xbox Game Pass Addition is a Massive Hit

Hollow Knight: Silksong is one of the latest games added to Xbox Game Pass, and it is keeping the subscription service's incredible momentum going strong. It's no secret that 2025 has been an incredible year for Xbox Game Pass, with a number of critically-acclaimed games added since January and more on the way.

The amazing Xbox Game Pass 2025 hot streak started with the well-reviewed Citizen Sleeper 2 at the end of January and continued with heavy hitters like Avowed, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, Blue Prince, Doom: The Dark Ages, and Abiotic Factor. Other recent Xbox Game Pass hits include Gears of War: Reloaded and The Alters. And now yet another incredible game has hit the Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass as a day one release in 2025.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is One of the Year's Best Games and a Day One Game Pass Title

Hollow Knight: Silksong is readily available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass subscribers. One of the most hotly-anticipated new game releases in recent memory, Silksong has earned widespread critical acclaim for its engrossing atmosphere, exciting platforming, and tough-as-nails battles. Silksong currently has an average review rating of 91 on aggregate site OpenCritic, making it one of the highest-rated new game releases of the year. The only game ahead of it is fellow day one Game Pass title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, and it shares its 91 score with Donkey Kong Bananza and Split Fiction.

Right now, Hollow Knight: Silksong's overall review score is very much in flux. Team Cherry did not give out Hollow Knight: Silksong review copies, meaning critics got access to the game at the same time as everyone else. Reviews have slowly started to trickle in now that reviewers have been able to roll credits, and so it's entirely possible that Silksong's score will change in the days and weeks ahead.

For a brief period of time, Silksong was the highest-rated game of all time with a 100 rating. That dropped to 98 and then dropped again to 94 before hitting its current score of 91. Silksong review scores could see its average go up or down, but regardless, it's pretty much a lock to remain one of the highest-rated new game releases of the year. Silksong being such a success adds significant value to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass. It will be exciting to see how other new Game Pass games for 2025 perform, and if 2026 stands any chance of beating the incredible hot streak of 2025.
