Xbox Game Pass is firmly established as gaming's definitive subscription service, a reputation built upon years of goodwill. Each month, Microsoft adds a few games to the service, ensuring subscribers always have something new to check out. While slightly overshadowed by its console counterpart, PC Game Pass is a great option for people who prefer to play on a computer rather than an Xbox.
Xbox Game Pass and PC Game Pass offer many of the same games, which reflects Microsoft's desire to cater to its whole customer base rather than just those who own consoles. That said, there are differences between the two, including some great titles that are only on the PC iteration. What are the best PC Game Pass games?
Updated September 15, 2025 by Mark Sammut: PC Game Pass has received a few fantastic games over the last few months, including a sequel that will probably go down as 2025's most beloved indie darling.
Hollow Knight: Silksong
PC Game Pass's Best 2025 Metroidvania
Hollow Knight: Silksong
- Released
- September 4, 2025
Arguably the most highly anticipated indie game of 2025, Silksong finally made its debut after a long, arduous wait. Did Hollow Knight's successor live up to all that hype? While obviously not perfect, Team Cherry's sequel more than manages to justify its existence, delivering a lengthy and challenging campaign that builds on its predecessor's immaculate foundations. Silksong does not reinvent the wheel by any stretch of the imagination, instead opting to be more Hollow Knight, while still incorporating enough fresh mechanics to be a proper sequel rather than a glorified expansion.
If you are new to this universe, I recommend starting with Hollow Knight, which is also one of the best PC Game Pass games. Silksong is playable without that experience, but you might struggle with its punishing difficulty and early-game learning curve. Once you push through those backbreaking hours and grow comfortable with Hornet's constantly developing skillset, you will find yourself playing one of the most gorgeous and tight Metroidvanias of all time.
If you are struggling to the point of weighing whether you should drop the game, you might want to try installing a few mods that make Silksong easier. They work with the PC Game Pass version.
Abiotic Factor
A Fantastic Co-Op Survival Game
Abiotic Factor
Display card community and brand rating widget Display card open critics widget Display card main info widget- Released
- July 22, 2025
Looking for a long co-op game for your friend group? Alongside Grounded and Sea of Thieves, Abiotic Factor is the best option on PC Game Pass, especially if you and your companions are into the survival genre. Dropped into an underground research facility filled with portals to other worlds, you become stuck in this place, forcing you to not only venture forth in search of a way out but also to build a base that you can live within and defend.
Abiotic Factor balances exploration, base management, and survival mechanics incredibly well, creating a package that elevates each one. The first-person combat is not that great, but it does not take away much from the experience either.
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
Wuchang: Fallen Feathers
- Released
- July 24, 2025
- Developer(s)
- Leenzee
- Genre(s)
- Action RPG, Soulslike, Hack and Slash
I have to be honest, I am a sucker for Soulslikes, so Wuchang: Fallen Feathers is basically designed for me. As such, your mileage may vary, as Leenzee's project is a fairly typical entry in the genre. It also attracted quite a bit of post-release criticism due to changes to some of the boss fights, although that ultimately does not impact the gameplay all that much.
Inspired by Chinese mythology and history, Wuchang follows a pirate who has caught the feathering, a disease that has been spread throughout the land and causes people to become monsters. In the hope of changing her fate, Bai Wuchang heads out on a mission to slaughter everything in her wake, all the wild battling her own madness.
Although the story is not bad for a Soulslike, Wuchang is all about its gameplay. Faster-paced than most releases in the genre, the combat is intense and multifaceted, actively encouraging players to use all the mechanics at their disposal rather than just focusing on one or two. Your ability to use spells and the power of special skills is influenced by your performance in battle, and you also have access to a vast skill tree system that is divided by weapon type.
Doom: The Dark Ages
Id Software Adds A Fantastic FPS To PC Game Pass
DOOM: The Dark Ages
- Released
- May 15, 2025
- Developer(s)
- id Software
- Genre(s)
- FPS, Action, Sci-Fi & Fantasy
- Platform(s)
- PC, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5
Doom is nothing if not reliable, despite the franchise's most recent releases taking quite a few risks. Doom, Doom Eternal, and The Dark Ages are all fairly different games in their own right, prioritizing unique mechanics that change the flow of combat. The latest project undertook arguably the franchise's biggest shift since Doom 3, with The Dark Ages prioritizing color-coded shield-blocking and crowd-control more than ever before. Also, the campaign involves mechs, which are always welcome.
Best Multiplayer Games On Xbox Game Pass
Xbox Game Pass features a trove of multiplayer titles, both competitive and co-op. These are the best of them.
Depending on what somebody is craving from Doom, The Dark Ages' more open level design and reaction-based action could be steps too far, even if the gunplay is just as smooth as ever and the guns as satisfying as ever. However, when taken in a vacuum, this FPS is comfortably one of the best games on PC Game Pass. Just give it a try, regardless of how you feel about the series.
Metaphor: ReFantazio
Atlus' JRPG Masterpiece (Among Many)
Metaphor: ReFantazio
- Released
- October 11, 2024
Atlus and its subsidiaries, like Studio Zero, need no introduction when it comes to JRPGs, and the developer's games have surprisingly become staples of Game Pass. Metaphor: ReFantazio might not have the same name recognition as established IPs like Persona, but the 2024 release sits comfortably among the company's greatest and most ambitious efforts.
While incorporating some real-time elements, the game's combat is primarily turn-based, with the system seemingly combining the best elements from Atlus' long and storied history. Lengthy and meaningful, the campaign tells a war-focused story with socially relevant themes, all the while developing a strong cast of core characters.
Persona 4 Golden is also on PC Game Pass.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
One Of The Best Turn-Based RPGs On PC Game Pass
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

- Turn-Based RPG, JRPG, Fantasy
- Platform(s)
- PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PC
- OpenCritic Rating
- Mighty
Garnering almost universal praise, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a fantastic throwback to classic JRPGs, albeit with modern touches that craft a unique package rather than a nostalgic one. Blending turn-based combat with reflex-based inputs for parrying, dodging, and attacks, Clair Obscur's battle system is intense, addictive, and well-tuned. Yes, some things could be balanced better, and it can take quite a while to master the timing for a few enemies, but the fundamentals are incredibly solid for the first attempt by a new studio.
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 - Every Playable Character, Ranked
With six battle-ready characters, who among them reigns supreme in Clair Obscur: Expedition 33?
Beyond gameplay, Clair Obscur tells a brilliant dark fantasy story that almost feels FromSoftware-esque, albeit one that follows a way more linear and conventional structure. Honestly, players should try to jump in blind, as this journey should be experienced first-hand. While not lacking in content, the campaign also isn't that long by RPG standards, with the main quest lasting roughly 25–30 hours.
The Elder Scrolls 4: Oblivion Remastered
A Classic Bethesda RPG With More Than Just A Fresh Coat Of Paint
The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered
- Released
- April 22, 2025
- ESRB
- Mature 17+ // Blood and Gore, Sexual Themes, Violence
- Genre(s)
- Action, RPG, Open-World, Adventure
- Platform(s)
- Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, PC
Announced and released at the same time, Oblivion Remastered is probably Bethesda's biggest success story of the last decade, which shouldn't come as a surprise since the original RPG is an all-time great. The remaster provides an obvious boost in visual quality, bringing the graphics up to modern standards. While not devoid of technical or performance issues, the game looks fantastic while still retaining the charm of its forefather.
Gameplay-wise, this is still ultimately Oblivion, albeit with a couple of tweaks and quality of life adjustments. Bethesda, wisely, opted against full-scale changes to avoid undermining the game's classic charm, but most of the alterations were for the better.
Mullet Madjack
A Frantic First-Person Shooter About Outrunning Death
Mullet Madjack
- Released
- May 15, 2024
- Developer(s)
- Hammer95 Studios
- Genre(s)
- FPS
- Platform(s)
- PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S
A relentless sprint, Mullet Madjack is an absolute blast that can be extremely difficult to put down once it grabs hold of players. Putting aside the glorious cyberpunk aesthetic and relatively in-depth plot, the game lives and dies on a great hook: Death is always 10 seconds away. As Jack, players have to sprint through short floors filled with enemies, with each kill adding a few seconds to their lifeline. Slowing down means death. Hesitation means death. Mistakes, more often than not, mean death.
Mullet MadJack: Best Weapons, Ranked
Mullet MadJack players have a fun range of weapons to choose from, but these are arguably the best of the bunch.
This concept is backed with extremely tight and satisfying controls that lean into boomer shooter territory, albeit with a heavier focus on speed and mobility. Mullet Madjack also incorporates roguelite elements as Jack gets upgrades along the way, which are naturally lost following his demise.

Available in Game Preview, 33 Immortals is an isometric hack-and-slash title that revolves around co-op. As suggested by its name, 33 players are dropped onto a hellish map where they must collect resources, defeat fodder enemies, take on small dungeons, and eventually eliminate a few bosses. Cooperation is, naturally, the main focus, although players will generally find themselves fighting as part of small groups.
33 Immortals is still a work in progress, but the current content is quite impressive and already satisfying to play. The combat system takes a few pages from games like Hades, all the while incorporating more traditional roguelite elements. Any PC Game Pass users craving a multiplayer romp that takes a few risks should give this a try.
Balatro

- LocalThunk
- Platform(s)
- PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Android, iOS
- Genre(s)
- Strategy, Digital Card Game, Roguelike
One of the most successful indie games of 2024, Balatro has a simple but addictive formula that is based on Poker. The roguelite challenges players to build a deck that can deliver hands that reach the required points total to defeat an ante's three blinds, with each one demanding higher scores. The quicker players manage to reach the total, the more cash they get to buy cards and booster packs, allowing them to fine-tune their deck for future antes.
Best Balatro Seeds To Try
Looking for a unique experience in Balatro? Give one of these seeds a try.
Balatro's core gameplay loop is pretty easy to understand, and depth arrives from the many variables and avenues that players can explore while building their decks. Tarot and Joker cards are used to provide unique effects and score multipliers, and variety is the spice of life. While the "main" campaign can be completed relatively quickly, Balatro has an endless mode that can keep players entertained for a long time.
