Sony's PlayStation 5 has had an incredible 2025 full of exciting new game releases, with many more big games yet to come. Most of the highest-rated games of the year are readily available to play on the PlayStation 5, with a few key exceptions. For the most part, though, owning a PS5 means access to some of the best that the gaming industry has to offer.
The highest-rated new PS5 game released in 2025 so far is Shujinkou, an RPG that doubles as a tool to learn Japanese. The caveat is that Shujinkou has only 10 reviews counted so far, and so its score will likely fluctuate. If we discount that game, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has the highest score out of all the new PS5 games released in 2025 with an impressive 92 overall rating, followed by Hollow Knight: Silksong at 91, Split Fiction at 91, Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter at 90, and Death Stranding 2: On the Beach at 90.
PS5 Has 13 Big Games Releasing in October 2025
PlayStation 5 gamers have at least 13 big new games to look forward to in October 2025.
Not only does the PS5 tend to get most multi-platform games, but it is also home to notable exclusives and console exclusive releases. The aforementioned Death Stranding 2: On the Beach is a PS5 exclusive, and the recently-released Ghost of Yotei, with its 87 overall score, is as well. Like Ghost of Yotei, the brilliant Sword of the Sea earned an overall 87 rating, and while it's available on PC, it's console exclusive to PS5.

There are all kinds of exciting PS5 games dropping in October, with the likes of Battlefield 6 on October 10, Ninja Gaiden 4 on October 21, and The Outer Worlds 2 on October 29. In November, PS5 gamers can look forward to Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 releasing on November 14, and while the big new releases tend to dry up near the end of the year, chances are good that The Game Awards on December 11 will be full of huge announcements for Sony's console.
2026 looks like it will keep the PS5's momentum going strong thanks to games like PS5 exclusive Saros releasing March 20 and Wolverine releasing in the fall. There's also Grand Theft Auto 6, which is currently scheduled to launch on May 26 of next year. Clearly, the PS5 has hit its stride, and it will be exciting to see what the coming years bring for the platform.
