Battlefield 6 is Going Back To Its Roots

The Next Entry Brings Back the Feel of Battlefield 3 & 4

Battlefield is a franchise that has long experimented with different innovations, taking players to a wide range of time periods and conflicts. While some of these innovations have been successful, with Battlefield 1 being widely acclaimed, Battlefield V and Battlefield 2042 were not as well-received. However, Battlefield 6 is changing that by taking players back to the series' roots.

Battlefield 6 returns players to the modern era, featuring the look and feel of both Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4, arguably two of the best entries in the franchise. Pair this with smooth gunplay, the revival of the importance of classes, and large-scale battles across a wide range of modes, and players have a Battlefield that serves as a love letter to its earlier installments.

Battlefield 6's Class System is More Important Than Ever

Each Class Has Key Roles to Better Suit Different Players' Playstyle

One of the key draws for Battlefield, outside the large battles and crazy moments, is the Class System, which gives players clear roles in their teams. While Battlefield 2042's class system at launch was not as prominent, Battlefield 6 brings these classes back to the forefront. Battlefield 6 features four classes: Assault, Engineer, Support, and Recon, each of which has its own Signature Gadget, unique class trait, weapon proficiency, and even abilities.

These distinct roles bring back the classic formula of Battlefield in a big way, giving each player a clear purpose in their team. Want to be a combat medic, keeping teammates up and running on the battlefield? Then opt for Support. Looking to both buff allied vehicles and come equipped with the tools to take down enemy tanks? Then the Engineer role is the right one to go with. While weapons themselves are not locked in classes, allowing each one to be used interchangeably, players can also enter Class-Locked Playlists for an even more classic Battlefield experience.

Battlefield 6 Brings a Range of Quality of Life Features

The Game Feels Smooth With a Wide Range of Gameplay Mechanics

Battlefield has not quite been renowned for fast-paced action and snappy gameplay, but Battlefield 6 is remarkably smooth, given the open and early access Beta tests. This is in part due to a range of quality-of-life features that make the game feel more responsive and easy to get into. For starters, the movement and gunplay are rather fluid, and while a lot of weapons lean toward the more realistic side when considering recoil, the recoil is pretty easy to manage when weapons are kitted out, and the gun kick is controlled.

In terms of quality-of-life changes, players can now drag downed teammates out of enemy fire to revive them, and can even cancel the revive when engaged. Classic vehicle seats are back, and players can even hang off vehicles to hitch a ride to their destination. The firing range is also back, allowing players to test out both their weapons and vehicles, making building up loadouts and practicing aim that much easier before heading into a multiplayer match.

Battlefield 6 Features a Single-Player Campaign

Players Can Dive into the Game's Campaign For Even More Action

Battlefield 2042 did not feature a single-player Campaign, and while the large majority of the Battlefield player base jump into the series for the multiplayer action, many also enjoy a grounded single-player experience. For those who did not get to enjoy such an experience in Battlefield 2042, Battlefield 6 offers its own single-player Campaign to play through at launch.

The Battlefield 6 Campaign takes players to the year 2027, amidst a conflict with Pax Armata, a military organization that has attacked a vast array of locations worldwide. Players take the role of an elite squad of Marine Raiders as they embark on missions across a variety of key locations worldwide, including Gibraltar, Cairo, and Brooklyn. The Campaign is said to average around 4 hours of game time and will be a nice change of pace for those looking for a break from multiplayer.

Battlefield 6 is Taking a Stand Against Cheaters

The Javelin Anti-Cheat System Provides New Protection Against Cheating in Battlefield 6

Cheating has long been a widespread issue in the multiplayer shooter space, with players of popular first-person shooters running across cheaters in both competitive and casual games alike. However, Battlefield 6 has taken action to combat cheating better. Battlefield 6 now requires PC players to enable Secure Boot and the Trusted Platform Module on top of launching with the Javelin Anti-Cheat System. Doing so protects against low-level threats and makes hardware ID spoofing significantly harder, reducing the ability for cheaters to evade a ban once they have already been detected as cheating via Javelin Anti-Cheat.

While this will not outright eliminate cheating, it significantly raises the barrier to entry. In the Battlefield 6 Beta alone, EA reported that over 330,000 suspected cheating attempts were blocked. Call of Duty has also taken the same approach, with Black Ops 7 requiring PC users to enable Secure Boot and the Trusted Platform Module. This will lead to a far better experience for Battlefield 6, allowing players to enjoy the game while significantly reducing the number of cheaters.

Battlefield Portal & Community-Driven Content

Battlefield 6 Will Have Sheer Endless Community Content Thanks to Portal

Battlefield 6's multiplayer is definitely shaping up to be pretty great. However, those who want to try out something new are also in for a treat. Battlefield 6 brings Portal back, giving creators the tools to create wild experiences, along with giving players a sheer endless amount of community-created content to jump into.

With Portal's custom map creation tools, players can craft maps and modes from the ground up and then share their creations with other players. From Only Up-inspired experiences to potential map remasters, Portal opens up another way to enjoy Battlefield 6, with each creation being unique from the last.

Firestorm Battle Royale is Back for Battlefield 6

Battle Royale Enjoyers Can Jump Into Firestorm

From large-scale multiplayer action to community-created content, Battlefield 6 is definitely shaping up to be one of the biggest installments of the franchise yet. However, to add to the ever-growing reasons to play Battlefield 6, DICE and EA have just one more trick up their sleeves with the return of Firestorm.

Firestorm is a Battle Royale mode that was first seen in Battlefield V and is returning once again for Battlefield 6. While not much is known about the mode just yet, players can expect classic Battlefield action merged with a Battle Royale gameplay loop, surviving until the last man or team standing.
