It helped that Spider-Man could ally with various heroes or villains based on his actions, which served as fun nods to his past. The cherry on top is when the Symbiotes take over Spider-Man's allies and villains, making for some cool boss fights against classic characters with a dark twist that really hammers in just how much of a joy this game is to play for comic book fans.
