Given the mixed reception of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 (2022), many fans have been hoping for an improvement and overhaul for Modern Warfare 3 (2023). From prior announcements of returning fan-favorite features, and snippets of gameplay, to complete gameplay reveals, Sledgehammer's Modern Warfare 3 appears to have the potential to stand as the Call of Duty title to set the franchise back in the good books of fans.
While there remain certain elements to be improved leading up to full release considering its current beta stage, developers' commitment to providing a classic Call of Duty experience that veteran fans are accustomed to seems to be at the forefront of plans.
5 Time To Kill/Health
Over a variety of Call of Duty entries, many complaints have stemmed from the incredibly fast time it takes for players to eliminate one another, often making gameplay scenarios unfair. With a fast time-to-kill, players do not have enough time to potentially identify who the shooter is and get into cover to engage in combat, as opposed to a slower and reasonable time-to-kill giving players some time to readjust.
Fortunately, developers at Sledgehammer have adhered to player requests by increasing health to 150, therefore balancing the time-to-kill to one that is increased and fitting for Modern Warfare 3 (2023). As it now takes more hits to eliminate players standing at around 5 or 6 hits depending on the weapon and distance, there is now a greater opportunity for players to quickly dive out of sight and return fire without the fear of instant execution.
4 Movement Speed/Agility
Adjacent to the improved time-to-kill is the faster and more responsive movement within all aspects of gun battles. Whether players are using submachine guns, assault rifles, shotguns, or marksmen rifles, the speed at which players can cover ground provides a smoother and more pleasing experience for players. Sliding also comes in handy for all players, as aiming while doing allows them to enter a tactical view rather than aiming down sights.
All Call Of Duty Games, Ranked According To IMDB
Many Call of Duty games have been released over the years but fans and critics have decided that some of the games rank above the rest.
While aiming down sights can still be done by choosing the right gear and equipment beforehand, players using weapons that adhere to greater close-quarters damage will largely benefit from this addition, as sliding up close to enemies can help for quicker eliminations. The option for slide cancelling is also present which harkens back to the classic Call of Duty gameplay features that fans have been longing for.
3 Gloves, Boots, & Gear
In order to give players a variety of ways to play Modern Warfare 3 (2023), developers at Sledgehammer have introduced options in different departments. These can help with the aforementioned speed in movement by increasing slide distance and aim down sights speed, faster reloading speeds, or eliminating footsteps sounds when traversing through maps.
In previous titles, some of these items were present through 'Tactical Gear', so to see these reintroduced to run as perks and skills to be active permanently as opposed to an activation basis is pleasing for a large majority of Call of Duty fans. This all stands as a pivotal factor in providing a much more enjoyable experience and once again comes back to adhering to the increased time-to-kill now present in Modern Warfare 3.
2 Aim Assist
When engaging in gun battles in any Call of Duty, title especially at long distances, the amount of aim assist given to players stands as an integral element. Balancing out the right amount of assistance to ensure that neither too little nor too much is given to players, can make or break the experience for many, and so far, Sledgehammer developers have managed to execute this well.
Coming up against players using sniper rifles or marksmen rifles is much more tolerable on this occasion as the balanced aim assist won't give a total advantage here, but will give just enough so that players stand a better chance of eliminating long-range guns before they are taken out by one or two shots. While aspects as such can always end up changing at release or along the game's duration with patches, developers have started on the right track.
1 Hit Markers/Sound
One of the most pleasing aspects of Modern Warfare 3 (2023) is the new hit markers in both the realm of its visual style and sound effects. Players will be able to tell when they have managed to pull off headshots from both the smooth and responsive hit marker sounds, making for a pleasing audio experience.
While this might not be a game-changing feature that fans may have been looking out for in comparison to many of the other fundamentals, it certainly helps to elevate each lobby experience, especially for players using headphones for better and more immersive sound. Much like previous entries within the franchise, players will more than likely be given the option to change hit marker sound effects to match the classic or new ones, including the option to change the color or enemy labels or in-game UI, helping players to change and personalize their playing experience in each game.
