Games began with with one very basic objective, such as keeping the ball bouncing back to the opponent in Pong, or surviving the roaming ghosts in Pac-Man. As they were some of the very first games on the scene, they were more simplified. But as technology developed, developers went on to push the envelope and create games with more depth.
Games went on to include fully fleshed out characters, riveting plotlines, objectives, quests, collectibles, and so much other content, gamers could easily spend hours or days immersed in these worlds. Gameplay would also change, including more than just a few simple button presses, and including combat as well as puzzles that would have gamers scratching their heads in confusion. Some puzzles came in the form of riddles, challenging players to deduce the words written before them in order to progress. The answers to these riddles will be included as well.

The Underdark is a place where players must travel after dealing with the goblin camp, and one way they can get to it is through the defiled temple, but a riddle stands between them and the sealed entrance.
If they pick up the journal in a bedroom they pass on their way to the temple, they will read the cryptic passage: "Thus the interlocking circles will bring the full moons to match the stars, while casting darkness where it belongs at the bottom. That chasm to the Underdark will stay sealed.".
The temple itself will have four disks that can be rotated with a total of 12 dots, eight light and 4 dark. Players need to apply the riddle written in the journal to the mechanical puzzle in front of them, which can be tough.
5 Animal Statue Puzzle (Resident Evil 0)
Looks May Be Deceiving
Resident Evil 0
Be prepared to relive the first nightmare in Resident Evil 0, a remastered version of the popular prequel to the original Resident Evil game. This remastered version takes the fear-inducing atmosphere from the original 2002 release and transforms it with stunning new HD visuals, improved sound, widescreen support and an optional modernized control system and more. It’s the best way to experience the story of what really happened before the iconic mansion incident that was the catalyst for the entire Resident Evil saga.
The story of Resident Evil 0 takes players back to 1998. Reports have been mounting about unusual murders on the outskirts of Raccoon City. The city’s Special Forces division, S.T.A.R.S., sends their Bravo Team - including rookie cop member Rebecca Chambers - to investigate. On route, the team’s helicopter suffers engine trouble and is forced to make a crash landing, where they find an overturned prisoner transport vehicle. Splitting up to search the area, Rebecca discovers the Ecliptic Express, a train stopped dead on the tracks. Inside, she meets death row convict and ex-Navy lieutenant Billy Coen. Throughout the game, you will take control of both Rebecca and Billy, at times switching between both characters in order to proceed. Learning the advantages of each character is the key to solving puzzles and surviving the nightmares that lie ahead.
Resident Evil is a game series that perfectly marries combat and puzzles. While playing through Resident Evil 0, players will encounter a room full of animal statues with a torch for each one, and a plaque reading "Six Souls Imprisoned Within the Chains of Death. Rekindle the Flames of Life from the Spirits of the Weak!".
This obviously means they have to light each corresponding torch in order, but they must also read the plague for each animal, otherwise they might risk making wrong assumptions, as the order may not be what players would think.
The stag reads: I stand tall on the earth, with horns proudly displayed.
The wolf: My sharp wit allows me to bring down even the greatest horned beast.
The horse: No amount of cunning can match the speed of my supple limbs.
The tiger: I am the king of all I survey: no creature can escape my grasp.
The snake: I creep up on my victims in legless silence and conquer even the mightiest kings with my poison.
The eagle: I dance freely through the air, capturing a legless prey.
Solution: This is exactly the order players will need to light the torches in order to progress. Stag, wolf, horse, tiger, snake and lastly, eagle.

On hard riddle difficulty, players don't merely need to put two out of four books in the correct place, nor can they deduce the order from the numbers written on the spine. They will need to solve this riddle, which all allude to Shakespeare plays:
"In here is a tragedy- art though player or audience? Be as it may, the end doth remain: all go on only toward death.
The first words at they left hand: a false lunacy, a madly dancing man. Hearing unherable words, drawn to a beloved's grave- and there, mayhap, true madness at last.
As did this one, playing at death, find true death at the last. Killing a nameless lover, she pierced a heart rent by sorrow.
Still amidst lies, though the end cometh not, wherefore yearn for death? Wilt thou attend to thy beloved? Truth and lies, life and death: a game of turning white to black and black to white.
Is not a silence brimming with love more precious than flattery? A peaceful slumber preferred to a throne besmirched with blood."
Players will need to figure out which line befits which Shakespeare volume: Hamlet, Romeo and Juliet, Othello, King Lear and Macbeth
Solution: In order from top to bottom, the answer was written in the previous line, Hamlet for the first. Romeo and Juliet for the second, Othello for the third, then King Lear, and lastly Macbeth.

A riddle all about guilt and guilty parties is very fitting for players who know the truth about James and the plot in Silent Hill 2. Near the end of the Labyrinth, players will find this riddle, and they must solve it by pulling on the noose of the innocent man. The riddle difficulty changes how to riddle is worded, as well as the solution.
Easy is as follows:
"He commited an evil crime. He turned a happy home into a pile of ash. For that, he should die. They also commited crimes. They tried to fraud and trick others. So their reward too is natural. Even he cannot be forgiven, my friend without his left hand. And so his death bothers me not. And what of him? He also is not sinless. There is only one here who is innocent. The missing child was nowhere to be found, and so there was no proof of his guilt. His death was a tragedy. That is all I wish to say. It was neither justice nor retribution."
The answer is: The Kidnapper.
Normal:
"The first one killed the butcher man, then cooked him in the frying pan. Served him to his hungry guests and gave them seconds on request. The next one with his smile and sweets, stole poor children off the streets. To men who dressed unsavory, he sold them into slavery. Breaking into a home at night, the thief he had a nasty fright. Filled his foolish head with ale, woke in the morn in a county jail.
The artist with his daunting skills, tried his hand at painting bills. But caught in rain he was undone when the ink he'd use did start to run. With promises of great return, taking gold he did not earn. Bundled it up out of sight, quielty slipped off into the night. Three houses into ashes burned, the sheriff with no place to turn. Did spy a stranger to his town, locked him up and beat him down."
The answer is the Arsonist
Hard:
"The man imprisoned beside me believed me. 'Because they're all insane, that's why,' he said. Of course I know his opinion will change nothing. 'Now you know why I struck out at them,' he muttered. The man who was executed yesterday, the one who had said his job was to sell dreams, said that was not true.
But the man who is to be executed the day after tomorrow for stealing children shouted back that it was true. The man who was hung today did not answer. 'They'll kill me either way,' he said. He was caught embezzling public money, so he hasn't any hope for mercy.
The man who is always quietly smiling to himself said 'I am happy for I will soon be with her'. I do not wish to die. I long only to return home. But I know it is not to be. Though I have done nothing, this crime has been thrust upon me.
The answer is Counterfeiter
