Every class in Battlefield 6 has a different job to do, and how well you perform may as well be tied to your weapon of choice and how you choose to play the class you've chosen. Bringing the right tool for the job is always going to net you better results, and if you want to score more points in each round, you'll want to bring an optimized loadout.
With the open weapons system in Battlefield 6, players can use any gun they want for any class. However, the guns themselves serve different purposes, and some will always be better than others at certain ranges or scenarios. This guide covers the BF6 meta guns for each class in the game, based on the class' intended role and playstyles.
Battlefield 6 Weapon Tier List
Battlefield 6 launches with 45 weapons. Here’s a quick tier list ranking them all, from top meta picks to ones you might want to skip.

This list covers the most commonly-used weapons in the game, and it is meant to give players an idea on what's popular. Remember: while some guns are objectively better or worse than others, the best weapon in BF6 is the one you like using most.
The BF6 meta during the immediate post-launch period of the game can be summed up as such:
- SMGs and Carbines rule the meta.
- Assault Rifles are awkward to use because of recoil and accuracy bloom.
- Everything else is situational or preference-based.
Carbines and SMGs are beloved by the community thanks to how easy they are to use compared to Assault Rifles, especially in the recoil department. ARs still see a lot of play (especially the ones we've listed above), but they typically get outperformed by even the worst SMGs and Carbines.

The Assault class is both the spearhead and the infiltrator of the squad. Their job is to clear as much enemy infantry as possible using explosives, clever positioning, and raw skill. With that said, Assault players who want to prioritize objectives will want to bring guns with high close-medium range lethality.
The M433 and TR-7 have the best TTK values among close-ranged assault rifles, with the latter being the superior pick for the smaller BF6 maps. The TR-7 can take a player down in three hits to the body, and with its fire rate of 720 RPM, it can do so in about 0.16 seconds. Meanwhile, the M433 has an optimal bodyshot TTK of 0.217 seconds, which is very good considering how it's the first AR in the game, and that it has a more manageable recoil model than the TR-7.
If you're playing on one of the bigger maps like Liberation Peak and Operation Firestorm, then a medium-ranged weapon like the NVO and B36A4 are great for providing accurate fire over longer distances while still maintaining decent CQB power.
All the other weapons mentioned above serve as good alternatives to the ones we've highlighted. However, it's worth mentioning that the M277 is a bit of an oddball among the carbines. It works well in CQB, but it's also quite good in medium range since it deals full damage up to 80 meters.
Equipping two primary weapons as the Assault class halves your max ammo capacity for both guns. Bring only one primary weapon if you want more ammo.

The Engineer class is mainly meant to support vehicles, but in the absence of heavy armor, their role shifts to a destruction-based one that targets cover and enemy deployables. The Engineer's role is a lot more flexible compared to the Assault class', and as such, they're good with pretty much every weapon except for sniper rifles (more on this later).
What you need to consider when picking a gun as an Engineer is your engagement range and the role you want to play:
- If you want to support the team's vehicles, use medium-long range weapons.
- If you want to support infantry, bring close-medium range weapons and tools for countering enemy vehicles in BF6.
Our recommended weapons here don't stray too far from the ones for the Assault class:
- Replace the TR-7 for the NVO for close-medium range because the former is just too unwieldy for distances beyond 25 meters.
- Replace the M417 A2 for the AK-205 because the latter is much more reliable at longer ranges.
- The PW5A3 and PW7A2 are more adaptable to medium ranges than the KV9 and SCW-10
- The SL9 and UMG-40 are great for medium-long range fights.

Much like the Engineer, the Support class is incredibly versatile. They can either push aggressively using smoke grenades and light weapons, or stay at the team's backline providing fire support. As such, we've divided their best weapons according to playstyle instead of effective range.
The offensive weapons we've listed above are for Support players who prefer to rush enemy positions. They offer the best performance in close-medium range, with the TR-7 being the exception as it's only really good for close range.
Meanwhile, the defensive weapons are for supporting the team from behind. They provide excellent stopping power at 30 or so meters away, and they are meant for either suppressing enemies or accurately taking them down from afar.

M2010 ESR SV98 PSR |
While the Recon class is primarily known for being snipers, they also make for good infiltrators like the Assault class. Their Spec Ops Field Spec gives them a number of stealth-based bonuses, plus their detection gadgets and UAV ability let them keep track of nearby enemies. Because of this, we've separated the best Recon weapons in BF6 according to playstyle.
The M2010 ESR tends to be more consistent than the SV-98 at 100-200 meters, while the PSR is basically reserved for sniping from extreme ranges (such ranges are very rare). In any case, all can serve you well as long as you can hit your shots.
Sniper Rifles appear to have bad accuracy when used by classes other than Recon. Whether this is intentional or not is unclear.
If you're going with the Spec Ops playstyle, then light weapons for close-medium range will do. Play like you're using the Assault class — harass the enemy from behind if you're playing Breakthrough, or try to capture objectives on the enemy's side of the map when playing Conquest/Escalation.
