The PS5 didn’t have a ton of exclusives in 2025, but the ones that did drop were mighty. Death Stranding 2: On the Beach was an impressive open-world game with extensive building mechanics, and Ghost of Yotei was a more action-focused open-world revenge tale. They were top-tier PS5 games from big developers, and in 2026, there is one PS5 game everyone will be excited for: Marvel’s Wolverine.
Upcoming Games Like God Of War
These upcoming action-packed games will satisfy God of War fans with their brutal combat, gripping stories, and fantastical settings.
There is no release date yet for Wolverine beyond Fall 2026, but that’s good enough for now, as Insomniac Games rarely lets fans down. Beyond exclusive games, the PS5 library will also get a lot of third-party support, including titles like Grand Theft Auto 6, Resident Evil Requiem, and 007 First Light. However, if PS5 fans only care about exclusives, then they may want to wishlist the following games instead, all of which are set to launch before May. Some will have PC releases, too, but one thing is for sure: they won’t be coming to Xbox or Switch systems anytime soon.

Code Violet is an upcoming console exclusive for PS5 fans, and they won’t have to wait long to play, since it is launching in early January. It’s an action horror game involving a lot of dinosaur slaying. For those who wish Capcom would make another Dino Crisis game, which was essentially Resident Evil mixed with Jurassic Park, then Code Violet is the next best thing. There are some caveats to the game though, for anyone who has played or read about a TeamKill Media game before.
Based on their past work, Code Violet may not be that good of a game, as their previous releases — Kings of Lorn: The Fall of Ebris, Quantum Error, and Son and Bone — all received mixed to poor reviews from fans and critics alike. That said, developers can evolve over time, and their new game looks promising from a visual standpoint and a creative one. There aren’t too many horror-themed dinosaur games out there to look forward to. From the various costumes to the gun collecting, Code Violet could be an early 2026 surprise.

- January 29, 2026
- Planned Release Date: 1/29/26
- Planned Systems: PC and PS5
For fans of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild’s climbing mechanics, Cairn is something they might enjoy. It will be released on PC and PS5 at the end of January 2026, and on both Steam and PSN, players can check out a free demo right now. The climbing mechanics are not as simple to grasp as The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, as it’s much more aligned with a difficult-to-control game like Baby Steps. In this vast world of tall peaks, players can approach a mountain, cliff, or whatever they see and start the climb. They will rotate between both hands and feet, and once players decide where they want that appendage to go, they can end the turn with Square, on the PS5 controller at least.
7 Big FPS Games Officially Coming In 2026
Beyond Halo: Campaign Evolved, there are some other great shooters coming in 2026 to satisfy FPS players.
After that, the next appendage will be selected and so on. If players tangle up their appendages, they will lose stamina more quickly. It’s a very hard game to understand and master, at least in the demo, but there will be an easier mode at launch. For anyone curious about getting into a more challenging climbing game following Breath of the Wild, or even Peak, then Cairn might be worth looking into. The developer, The Game Bakers, has released some good titles in the past, like the boss-rush game Furi, and the love-involved co-op RPG, Haven.

The Nioh franchise from Team Ninja began as the samurai answer to Soulslikes in 2017, and these developers who know how to make challenging games, as demonstrated with the 3D Ninja Gaiden games. The last Nioh game was in 2020, and now a third game is on the way. Thanks to a beta release of the game, most PS5 fans know exactly what to expect, and it’s a lot of the same. Players can create their character and then embark on a Soulslike adventure by slaying demons alone or with the help of others. Another thing that sets the series apart is the loot system, as enemies will drop gear frequently, more akin to a Diablo game than something like Dark Souls.
The Familiar system is also unique, as players can equip spirits to aid them in various ways in battle, providing buffs to damage, healing, or defense. As for new content, the game promises to have more open areas to explore. It won’t be an open-world game like Elden Ring, but the beta did showcase a more nonlinear approach to levels. Nioh 3 is set to release at the beginning of February for the PC and PS5, and it will be the first major Soulslike to release in 2026.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer was released for PC platforms like Steam in 2025, and based on reviews, fans seem to love it. It may not have the clout of the Forza or Gran Turismo franchises, but this racing series from Genki is well-loved by dedicated fans, and at the end of February 2026, PS5 players will get to have a taste. Unlike the more expansive racing franchises that were already named, Tokyo Xtreme Racer is set in the streets of Tokyo for some bona fide street racing challenges.
Big Upcoming Games All About Magic
Hocus, pocus, and focus on these upcoming games that are all about their creative magic systems, be it in co-op or single-player.
Players can race against the AI for intense challenges and also have the ability to customize their rides. This series began in 1994 with Shutoko Battle '94: Drift King, and prior to this PC release, there was a mobile game in 2017 called Shutoko Battle Xtreme. As such, Tokyo Xtreme Racer has been a long time coming, and it’s great to see its reception was already so positive in 2025. Beyond racing games, Genki has made some more obscure titles that PlayStation fans may have enjoyed in the past. For example, they developed both Jade Cocoon RPGs and made Katamari Forever, so Genki’s track record is indeed colorful and full of quality.

Fore years, Housemarque made a name for itself by developing smaller arcade-like experiences, mostly for PlayStation platforms. Super Stardust HD, Alienation, Resogun, and more were all great shoot 'em ups. Thenm the developer took a big step forward with Returnal in 2021, a story-driven third-person roguelike shooter that was one of the early hits in the PS5's era. Years later, they are making a spiritual sequel in Saros, which is set to release at the end of April 2026. It’s stars Rahul Kohli as the lead, who some may know from shows like The Fall of the House of Usher or Midnight Mass.
Saros is set on an alien planet where the sun is dying, and if players die, things will reset. The nice thing about the gameplay is that players can level up by gaining skills after death. How this system will work has not been fully explained, but based on previews, there will be an unlockable ability to revive at least once on a run. Beyond the upgrades, players will acquire various weapons to blast enemies with, and they can get a shield to protect themselves, too. As a third-person shooter, it looks like one of the most intense bullet hell games of recent years. There will surely be more previews leading up to its release, and maybe even a demo, so Saros is definitely poised to be Sony’s biggest PS5 exclusive coming down the pipeline in the first half of 2026.
