Black Myth: Zhong Kui World Premiere Trailer

The official reveal trailer for Black Myth: Zhong Kui shows two wanderers arguing over their plans to escape a life of struggle, when a caravan of mythical creatures passes by. Two large creatures can be seen carrying an incredibly large sheathed sword, while a gigantic tiger is ridden by the titular Zhong Kui. In Chinese mythology, Zhong Kui is a god who wanders between hell and Earth to capture ghosts. According to Chinese cultural practices, Zhong Kui is regarded as a guardian spirit who protects places of value, and though he can be wrathful towards those attempting to run away from Hell and cause chaos. Boasting impressive visuals and a powerful soundtrack, the first trailer has already sparked celebrations among fans of games based on Chinese mythology.

While no gameplay footage was shown, Zhong Kui's folklore abilities have many keeping their fingers crossed for special new abilities that will help differentiate the sequel even further from its predecessor. In particular, Zhong Kui's control over various demons, who willfully do their master's bidding, could be implemented as a unique gameplay mechanic in Black Myth: Zhong Kui, though players can also expect to see the same action-packed playstyle shown by Sun Wukong in Black Myth: Wukong.
