Like most action-RPGs, Black Myth: Wukong offers a variety of gear for players to equip. Among these are a variety of helmets and masks that the Destined One can craft, upgrade, and wear throughout his journey. To unlock the ability to upgrade armor with rare materials, players need to reach Zodiac Village in Chapter Three and meet the Yin Tiger blacksmith.

There are 19 different headgear items in Black Myth: Wukong, each varying in quality. However, helmets that are not part of a full set cannot be upgraded by the blacksmith. As a result, some unique and powerful rare gear may eventually be outclassed by more potent new sets. Additionally, not all armor or headgear provides unique effects, though some offer bonuses that can be quite useful. Below are some of the best headgear items with individual bonuses (meaning they work even without the full armor set) that players can obtain in Black Myth: Wukong.

Black Myth: Wukong - 10 Best Curios & How To Get Them

In Black Myth: Wukong, curios (talismans) are essential additions to any Destined One's build. Here are some of the most valuable options available.

6 Earth Spirit Cap

Unmatched Mushroom Looks With High Poison Resistance

Black Myth Wukong Earth Spirit Cap
  • Available in Chapter Five
  • Slowly reduces HP, but massively increases Health recovery when using Gourd.
  • Guaranteed mini-boss drop
  • Non-Upgradeable

The Earth Spirit Cap is a unique piece of headgear in Black Myth: Wukong that isn't part of any set, yet it stands strong on its own, particularly in specific encounters. This helm boasts high Poison resistance and features a unique effect that significantly increases Health recovery when drinking from a Gourd. This ability can be a lifesaver when players need to quickly replenish their HP in the heat of battle. However, the Earth Spirit Cap is not upgradable, and it slowly drains the Destined One's HP while equipped.

Visually, it's one of the weirdest-looking headgear items in the game, giving the Destined One a massive, somewhat shapeless mushroom crown. Players can acquire the Earth Spirit Cap in Chapter Five: Golden Child, Crimson Blood. It's a guaranteed drop from the Nine-Capped Lingzhi Guai mini-boss, which disguises itself as a mushroom. The closest Keeper's Shrine is Field of Fire - Ashen Path III.

5 Golden Mask Of Fury

A Skull Mask For Monkeys Relying On Spirits

Black Myth Wukong Golden Mask of Fury
  • Available in Chapter Four
  • Upon successful hits from Spirit skills, grants massive Focus upon reverting.
  • Part of the Golden Set
  • Upgradeable

The Golden Mask of Fury is perfect for players who favor Spirit attacks that require Qi to activate. While not full transformations, these moves allow the player to quickly shift forms, deliver an attack or spell, and revert back. With the Golden Mask of Fury equipped, the Destined One gains a massive Focus boost upon returning to their body, which can be immediately used for charged heavy attacks, varied combos, and healing.

Black Myth: Wukong offers nearly 100 unique bosses, and these are among the hardest fights players will encounter.

5

The Golden Mask of Fury is part of the powerful Golden Set, which becomes available for crafting at the Keeper's Shrine at the start of Chapter Four: Rosy Cheeks, Gray Hair. Players who have hoarded Will and crafting materials can craft the entire set at once, ensuring they are fully prepared for the challenges ahead.

4 See No Evil

Aesthetic Headband For Agile Warriors

Black Myth Wukong See No Evil Headgear
  • Available in Chapter Three
  • More easily triggers Perfect Dodge.
  • Random drop
  • Non-Upgradeable

The See No Evil headband is a stylish and cool-looking accessory that enhances the aura of calm, confident warriors who don't need all of their senses to defeat their foes. Beyond its design, this unique headband is ideal for players who struggle with mastering the Perfect Dodge mechanic in Black Myth: Wukong, as it extends the window of opportunity to execute this critical move.

The See No Evil headband is a random drop from the blind monk enemies encountered throughout the New Thunderclap Temple in Chapter Three: White Snow, Ice Cold. While there are plenty of monks wandering around the temple grounds, players may still need to farm them to obtain this elusive headband.

3 Yaksha Mask Of Outrage

Go Berserk With This Menacing Horned Mask

Black Myth Wukong Yaksha Mask of Outrage
  • Available in Chapter Five
  • Significantly increases Attack when Health is low.
  • Part of the Yaksha Outrage Set
  • Upgradeable

The Yaksha Mask of Outrage, part of the full Yaksha Outrage Set, is a menacing, horned headgear resembling a flaming demon. It gives the wearer an appearance similar to the main boss of Chapter Five — Red Boy, the Yaksha King. This mask is particularly powerful for players who excel at controlling the flow of battle and evading attacks when low on Health. In these situations, wearing the Yaksha Mask of Outrage grants a significant Attack boost, increasing the Destined One's damage output.

Black Myth: Wukong — All Transformations, Ranked

Black Myth: Wukong features a total of ten transformation spells, each offering unique strengths and weaknesses.

The full Yaksha Outrage Set becomes available after players complete Chapter Five and can be crafted at the start of Chapter Six at the Keeper's Shrine. Like all sets in Black Myth: Wukong, its quality can be upgraded from Legendary to Mythical at Yin Tiger's forge.

2 Skull Of Turtle Treasure

For Thrifty Monkeys Greedy For Valuables

Black Myth Wukong Skull of Turtle Treasure
  • Available in Chapter Three
  • Moderately increases the chance of obtaining materials upon killing an enemy.
  • Random drop
  • Non-Upgradeable

The Skull of Turtle Treasure is one of the best standalone headgear items in Black Myth: Wukong, untied to any set. While its quality cannot be upgraded, its special effect makes it invaluable for clearing various locations, starting in Chapter Three. This magical skull increases the chance of obtaining rare materials from enemies and can be paired with the Golden Carp curio, which is available in Chapter Four. As a result, players can quickly amass a wealth of rare and useful resources.

The Skull of Turtle Treasure is a random drop from Lesser Yaoguai Turtle Treasure enemies — large beasts wielding massive maces. Fortunately, these enemies appear not only occasionally in Chapter Three, but are quite common in Chapter Five. However, it's recommended to obtain this helm as early as possible to maximize its benefits.

1 Bull King's Mask

Be Strong Like A Bull

Black Myth Wukong Bull King's Mask
  • Available in Chapter Five
  • Grants moderate Focus upon taking damage.
  • If the Destined One is staggered, grants more Focus.
  • Part of the Bull King Set
  • Crafted at max quality

The Bull King's Mask is part of the powerful Bull King Set, one of the strongest armor sets in Black Myth: Wukong, even surpassing the Legendary Sun Wukong's armaments. What makes the Bull King Set unique is that players cannot craft the entire set in a single playthrough due to a limited number of unique materials (The Bull King's Iron Horns), likely because this Mythical armor would otherwise be too powerful. Once players have gathered enough materials to craft a few pieces, the Bull King's Mask should be prioritized. Its unique effect grants Focus whenever the wearer takes damage or is staggered, making it invaluable in combat. Additionally, this headgear has the highest defense stat in the game and features an imposing design with large twisted horns.

The Bull King Set, including the Bull King's Mask, becomes available in Chapter Five's secret area, Bishui Cave, which can be unlocked by completing the Five Element Carts questline. Before accessing the set, however, players must first defeat the mighty Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast boss, who drops a number of Bull King's Iron Horns that can't be obtained anywhere else.
