The best healing items in Black Myth: Wukong can make a ton of difference in any fight. The game is not classified as a Soulslike, at least by developer Game Science, but that doesn’t mean it’s soft by any means. Any fan who has tried it out can understand the difficulty that’s present, especially in a fight like The Scorpionlord boss.
Black Myth: Wukong— How to Craft Medicine
Using medicine can help Black Myth: Wukong players to get rid of all status ailments.
The main healing comes from sipping from Gourds. These have their own passive effects, working in tandem with those that come in from the Drinks and the Soaks present. Naturally, being more of a linear narrative than an open-world RPG, players unlock items as they progress through the game. There are side quests thrown in, yes. However, almost all important healing items in Black Myth: Wukong can be obtained without much trouble.
Best Gourds For Healing In Black Myth: Wukong
Fiery Gourd
- Charges (Maxed Out): 7
- Effect: Using the Gourd increases Chill Resistance and increases Maximum Stamina for a short duration.
- How to Get: Go ahead of the Mindfulness Cliff Keeper's Shrine in Valley of Ecstasy and drop from the wooden plank. Go straight till you find a cave with a chest.
The
Fiery Gourd is one of the best items for healing in Black Myth: Wukong, especially because it comes with seven charges and also increases Maximum Stamina. Running out of Stamina is disastrous in the game. If players are not eagle-eyed, they won’t find out they’ve run out of it since they can attack even with no Stamina. The concern here is they won’t be able to dodge and will thus get hit.
The Stamina raise’s duration should have been longer, but this is enough to tide over immediate danger. The Chill Resistance is also helpful, especially against bosses like Chapter 3’s Monk from the Sea. Overall, the Fiery Gourd is one of the best Gourds and healing items in Black Myth: Wukong.
Jade Guanyin Gourd
- Charges (Maxed Out): 8
- Effect: Upon using the Gourd, fully recovers the Heal for all nearby Duplicates.
- How to Get: Purchase and upgrade Jade Lotus Gourd from Shen Monkey. He will be in Bamboo Grove but will move to the Zodiac Village after Chen Loong's quest.
A key reason that makes the
Jade Guanyin Gourd a great way to heal in Black Myth: Wukong is that it comes with eight charges. This is not a small amount and goes a long way in ensuring survival.
Furthermore, if players use A Pluck of Many, one of the best Spells in Black Myth: Wukong, it’ll help them heal all the present duplicates. It doesn’t increase the spell’s duration, but keeping the clones alive is better than letting them die out sooner.
Stained Jade Gourd
- Charges (Maxed Out): 7
- Effect: Massively Increases Drinking Speed.
- How to Get: Defeat The Scorpionlord boss in Chapter 4 secret area, Purple Cloud Mountain.
The
Stained Jade Gourd is a great healing item in Black Myth: Wukong simply because it massively increases the usage speed. The game has a lot of fights where players barely get any respite from enemy combos to heal. Taking a step back without staggering or distracting them can spell more danger.
Black Myth: Wukong— How To Upgrade Health, Mana, and Stamina
Upgrading health, stamina, and mana is one of the most essential things to do in Black Myth: Wukong.
While the number of uses is one less than others, it’s still a great pick to survive and heal in Black Myth: Wukong. Drinking quickly also means starting a combo before the enemy does.
Xiang River Goddess Gourd
- Charges (Maxed Out): 8
- Effect: Using the Gourd increases Burn Resistance and immunity from lava-covered terrain for a short duration.
- How to Get: From the Verdure Bridge Keeper's Shrine in Chapter 4 Webbed Hollow, cross the small broken wooden bridge and head left for a cutscene. Once done, go right to find the Gourd in one of the chests.
The
Xiang River Goddess Gourd comes with eight charges when maxed out. This in itself is a great marker for why it is a great Gourd to heal in Black Myth: Wukong. Aside from that, it also increases Burn Resistance and immunity from lava-covered areas. This is more situational than others, but the effect cannot be overstated.
This Gourd is great for healing against Fire-based enemies and areas like the entirety of Chapter 5. The Fireproof Mantle is the go-to Vessel in Black Myth: Wukong for such areas, but this Gourd can allow players to use something offense-oriented, like the Weaver’s Needle or the Plantain Fan.
Supreme Gourd
- Charges (Maxed Out): 10
- Effect: None.
- How to Get: Fully upgrade the starter Gourd. For the final upgrade, speak to Old Man in Chapter 5. Go to Furnace Valley Keeper’s Shrine ahead of Rakshasa Palace Keeper’s Shrine.
The
Supreme Gourd is arguably the best healing Gourd and item in Black Myth: Wukong for almost all scenarios. It doesn’t come with any effect whatsoever, which is a bit sad. However, it more than makes up for it with the highest number of charges out of any other Gourds in Black Myth: Wukong.
Having no effects is a downside, yes. And yet, it is unequivocally the best given the number of times that players can heal themselves. An extra charge or two easily bridges the gap between life and death, making it the top healing item in Black Myth: Wukong.
Best Drinks For Healing In Black Myth: Wukong
Bluebridge Romance
- Effect: Each sip recovers 36% of Maximum Health; moderately increases Movement Speed.
- How to Get: From the North Shore of the Bitter Lake Keeper's Shrine in Chapter 3, go ahead of Chen Loong’s starting area to meet an NPC and start the Treasure Hunter quest. After interaction, go left to find the Drink.
- Slots: 3
The
Bluebridge Romance Drink is a great pick to heal in Black Myth: Wukong. It comes with three slots for Soaks, which is a pretty decent amount to stack passive effects. The 36% Maximum Health restored is also a good amount, one of the most in the game.
Black Myth Wukong: Hardest Yaoguai Chiefs Mini-Boss Fights, Ranked
The Yaoguai Chiefs may be mini-bosses in Black Myth: Wukong, but some are pretty challenging to beat and give good rewards for the trouble.
The moderate increase in Movement Speed is a good secondary effect, especially against quick bosses in Black Myth: Wukong like the Tiger Vanguard. This may not be of much help to everyone, but just a little bit of a boost can save players from being stuck in a devastating combo.
Dry Spirit
- Effect: Each sip instantly recovers 18% of Maximum Health; you then recover 48% of Maximum Health over time
-
How to Get: At the start of Chapter 2, go ahead and right to find a bridge over a patch of water. Go across it and past the archer to get
Lambbrew. Max it out to get Dry Spirit.
- Slots: 2
The
Dry Spirit Drink comes with only two slots for Soaks in Black Myth: Wukong, which is quite a bit less than what players get with others. Another drawback is that players get only 18% health right away. They get an additional 48%, but they can die in between since it generates over time.
The benefit, though, is that the total amount of health received is the highest in the game. If players are fairly adept at combat and can dodge for a bit longer, the Dry Spirit is one of the best Drinks and healing items to get in Black Myth: Wukong.
Loong Balm
- Effect: Each sip recovers 30% of Maximum Health; considerably increases the damage of your next Attack.
- How to Get: Defeat Chapter 5 bosses Keeper of Flaming Mountains and Yin-Yang Fish. Once done, the Drink will be present where Mother was.
- Slots: 4
The
Loong Balm is a good Drink to keep equipped as the damage increase for the next attack is great. If you club this with the Breath of Fire Soak, which increases the damage of Unveiling Strike in Cloud Step spell, the effect can be amazing. The health regen of 30% isn’t that great, but the offense is.
There’s another point that makes the Loong Balm a great Drink and healing item in Black Myth: Wukong - it has four slots for Soaks. This can help players stack on passive buffs, massively influencing the gameplay.
Jade Dew
- Effect: Each sip recovers 55% of Maximum Health.
- How to Get: Max out starter Drink, Coconut Wine.
- Slots: 3
The
Jade Dew is the fully upgraded version of the starter Drink,
Coconut Wine. This means that players don’t need to worry about excessive exploration or difficult-to-track side quests in Black Myth: Wukong to get it. Further, the 55% Maximum Health regen is a pretty good amount, even in the late game.
The Jade Dew comes with three Soak slots, the second key factor that makes it a good Drink and healing item in Black Myth: Wukong. This isn’t the highest in the game, but it’s a pretty good amount nonetheless.
Sunset of the Nine Skies
- Effect: Each sip recovers 35% of Maximum Health; grants a considerable amount of Qi.
- How to Get: This Drink is a bit far from the Court of Illumination Keeper's Shrine. Head down the stairs, then straight ahead and through a door on the left. Keep going straight and turn left again. Finally, go up the stairs and then take a right. Go all the way to the end and get the Drink.
- Slots: 3
The
Sunset of the Nine Skies is easily a great Drink and healing item to pick up in Black Myth: Wukong. It grants three Soak slots like most others, so that’s okay. The health regen of 35% is also average.
Black Myth: Wukong — All Transformations, Ranked
Black Myth: Wukong features a total of ten transformation spells, each offering unique strengths and weaknesses.
The best part about the Sunset of the Nine Skies Drink is that it restores a massive amount of Qi, which can help players trigger more Spirit and Vessel attacks. Consider the impact of a great Spirit like Wandering Wight with an offensive, continuously staggering Vessel like the Plantain Fan. This fact alone makes it a great Drink to equip in Black Myth: Wukong.
Best Soaks For Healing In Black Myth: Wukong
Breath Of Fire
- Effect: Using the Gourd significantly increases Attack for the next Unveiling Strike in Cloud Step for a short duration.
- How to Get: Defeat Chapter 3 secret boss Cyan Loong.
The
Breath of Fire is a great Soak to equip if you use Cloud Step, arguably the best defensive spell in Black Myth: Wukong. The spell’s exclusive move, the Unveiling Strike, sees its damage significantly increased. When this is clubbed with the Loong Balm Drink and Medicine like Tiger Subduing Pellets, the effect can be tremendously enhanced.
The spell on its own is great to take a moment and escape what may be the final hit on the Destined One. With healing and enhanced damage, plus a Charged Heavy Attack, players can turn the tables around in one move.
Purple-Veined Peach Pit
- Effect: Massively increases the Health recovery from using the Gourd when at critical health.
- How to Get: Go to Chapter 4 Verdure Bridge Keeper’s Shrine. It’s in a nearby room that has a lady.
The
Purple-Veined Peach Pit can be a good Soak to equip for almost all scenarios. Given Black Myth: Wukong’s difficult boss fights, it’s fairly common to go at least a few rounds before taking a new one down. In such cases, having a good chunk of extra healing when at critical health gives players a decent chance to win in fewer tries.
To add to its effects, combining it with the Iron Pellet to increase Damage Reduction and cancel interruption is highly recommended. This will ensure players can use it to its maximum potential. With such use, this is easily one of the best Soaks and healing items in Black Myth: Wukong.
Bee Mountain Stone
- Effect: When using the Gourd grants a considerable chance to take a sip without consuming Gourd uses.
- How to Get: Go to the Temple of Yellow Flowers near the Mountain Trail Keeper’s Shrine in Chapter 4.
The
Bee Mountain Stone effect is based on RNG mechanics, but the “considerable chance” makes it worth equipping. It won’t get triggered every time, but having an extra use (or two, if lucky) can be great in any fight.
In the late game chapters, players may not need other Soaks in Black Myth: Wukong, at least as much. This could be due to getting the rhythm down pat or simply wanting to try something different. In such cases, the Mountain Bee Stone can be a good healing item to equip for a Black Myth: Wukong boss fight, especially when paired with the Supreme Gourd’s ten charges to increase the chance percentage.
Goat Skull
- Effect: Using the Gourd moderately increases Maximum Health for a short duration.
- How to Get: Random chance to get while picking Licorice. It may get triggered near Chapter 2’s Windrest Hamlet.
The
Goat Skull Soak’s effect of increasing Maximum Health for a little while is pretty good. Sure, the duration could be longer, but it can help tide over immediate damage. Increasing overall health to tide over even one extra hit can be beneficial in Black Myth: Wukong.
Black Myth: Wukong - All Pill Locations
Celestial Pills in Black Myth: Wukong increases Health, Mana, and Stamina. Here is how to find them all.
It’s important to note that a single charge is unlikely to get full health back. If players want to use this, they will have to strategize a bit. They can heal twice, use the Dry Spirit Drink for a major health regen, or use it in tandem with the Ring of Fire spell to heal quickly within its area of effect.
Iron Pellet
- Effect: Using the Gourd can no longer be interrupted by incoming attacks, and now provides considerable Damage Reduction.
- How to Get: Complete Chapter 2’s Man-in-Stone questline to unlock his shop.
The
Iron Pellet may just be the best Soak in Black Myth: Wukong, and as such, a great healing item as well. Its primary effect ensures that players do not get canceled out of healing upon hit. This, as many can understand, is quite important. Many enemies seldom give any breaks, like secret ending boss Erlang Shen, and getting interrupted while healing is always a concern.
Furthermore, the Iron Pellet’s considerable Damage Reduction also helps take less incoming damage. This prolongs survival by a fair amount, ensuring players can withstand the next set of attacks.
Best Medicines For Healing In Black Myth: Wukong
Longevity Decoction
- Effect: Upon use, considerably increases Maximum Health for a long duration.
- Crafting ingredients: Licorice x1, Fragrant Jade Flower x1.
- How to Get Formula: Purchase from Xu Dog at the start of Chapter 2.
The
Longevity Decoction is the primary Medicine that players can use for healing in Black Myth: Wukong. It’s also one of the earliest available types, which makes things much easier all around.
Black Myth: Wukong - All Medicine Formulas/Tattered Pages (Page Preserver Trophy/Achievement)
Medicine Formulas unlock recipes for Pills that can be crafted by the players. Here is how to find them all in Black Myth: Wukong.
The crafting ingredients are fairly common around the game, and players can always have some grown by going to the Zodiac Village via the Ruyi Scroll. With a steady supply and the Medicine Formula from Xu Dog, they’ll easily have Longevity Decoction on hand all the time. Essentially, a great healing item in Black Myth: Wukong no matter what.
Life-Saving Pill
- Effect: Upon use, instantly recovers full Health and removes all Four Banes States.
- Crafting ingredients: Golden Lotus x1, Fire Bellflower x1
- How to Get Formula: Go to Chapter 4 Petalfall Hamlet Keeper's Shrine and head to where you meet Daoist Mi for the first time. Turn right and then take the left at the end of the path. Go up the bridge and into the house for the formula.
The
Life-Saving Pill is the best Medicine for healing in Black Myth: Wukong. It regenerates the entire health bar with one use, which also helps if players don’t have a lot of time to pop multiple rounds. This is especially important against aggressive bosses.
The second key effect is that the Life-Saving Pill removes all Four Banes States. This may not be a big deal all the time, but it’s very helpful when going against bosses who deal elemental attacks. The Bishui Golden-Eyed Beast, for one, deals a lot of Burn damage. The Life-Saving Pill turns out to be the best Medicine for healing in Black Myth: Wukong.
