Players cannot absorb the Wandering Wight's Spirit the first time that they encounter it, and they should be prepared to leave it behind. This fact need not be a source of great disappointment, though, as fans of action games will be able to claim the Spirit further along in their journeys.

Black Myth Wukong: How to Absorb Spirits

Players who have encountered the "cannot absorb Spirits without guidance" message should simply continue progressing through Black Myth: Wukong's Black Wind Mountain. More specifically, fans must reach Snake Trail, the second Keeper's Shrine in Bamboo Grove. For full clarity, Bamboo Grove is the second area within the Black Wind Mountain, and it should not take players very long to reach it after defeating the Wandering Wight.

Upon reaching the Snake Trail Keeper's Shrine, players should climb the nearby stairs and enter the alcove at the top. There is an NPC in that alcove, and he will improve the Destined One's gourd during this meeting. This improvement makes it possible to absorb the Spirits that are left behind by certain foes, and fans of games inspired by Chinese mythology should no longer encounter the "cannot absorb Spirits without guidance" message in Black Myth: Wukong.

The Spirit that is left behind by the Wandering Wight will have disappeared by the time that players earn the ability to absorb it. That said, players can still claim the Spirit by selecting "Retrieve Spirits" the next time that they visit a Keeper's Shrine.

With respect to what players should do once they have performed an absorption, captured Spirits can be equipped through the Equipment menu in order to activate their passive bonuses and gain access to their unique attacks. Notably, fans of games with RPG elements will need to fill their equipped Spirit's Qi meter before they can use its attack, and that meter can be found near the bottom-right corner of the screen. For those players who want specific information about a Spirit's passive bonus and attack, that can be viewed when selecting one to be equipped.
