The Elder Jinchi is a hidden boss in Black Myth: Wukong, where you must complete a secret task to reach it. Everything can be done during the first chapter of the game, so early-game players can rejoice as defeating the boss will unlock a new armor as well as a vessel, the
Fireproof Mantle.
As for beating Elder Jinchi, the boss fight is relatively easy as long as you pay attention to a few details. Other than the boss, the secret area possesses chests that contain useful items like armor equipment and some crafting materials like
Yarn.
Black Myth Wukong: Beginner Tips
By following these tips, Black Myth Wukong players will be able to progress smoothly.
How To Find Elder Jinchi In Black Myth: Wukong
To reach Elder Jinchi in Black Myth: Wukong, players must unlock the Ancient Gunayin Temple hidden location by ringing three bells located in three different areas during Chapter 1.
Bell #1
From the Outside the Forest shrine waypoint, go forward across the bridge to reach a fox enemy. Head left up the hill to find the Guangzhi boss. Defeat it and ring the bell.
Bell #2
Once you reach the Snake Trail keepers shrine, climb the stairs and move across the bridge, then down the hill near a river. Proceed ahead down the slope and follow the flames to find the Yaoguai Chief
Guangmou. Defeat it and climb the nearby stairs to ring the second bell.
Bell #3
Upon defeating Whiteclad Noble in the Marsh of the White Mist, instead of going forward, turn left and ring the final bell. A cutscene will play and players are transferred to the Ancient Gunayin Temple.
How To Beat Elder Jinchi In Black Myth: Wukong
Elder Jinchi fights exactly like the
Wandering Wight boss in the Forest of Wolves. Both have the same movesets except that Elder Jinchi doesn’t fight alone. An endless number of undead enemies will spawn in the arena, listening to the Elder’s every command. Fortunately, they can be easily ignored.
In the beginning, the boss will take power from its minions and launch a long-distance attack on players. You can evade it by sprinting to the left or right while dodging.
Getting too close will make Elder Jinchi perform a stomp attack as well as a series of movesets while jumping around and swishing its hands, causing massive damage. The best strategy in this case is to freeze the boss mid-attack to try and break it out of its trance with a varied combo using both light and heavy attack. Unlocking the Skill that grants you extra damage when an enemy is immobilized while attacking will also help.
Once the boss is down to half HP, it will float and start summoning minions to approach it to gain more health. What you must do is kill the enemies before they reach the boss to stop the healing process. As a bonus, these undead enemies take one hit to die, and they also regenerate some of your HP. So, if you're in a tough situation with no Gourd healing, kill some of the enemies.
One of the deadly attacks the boss can make is shoving its hand into the ground, creating a crate, and dealing damage by unleashing a shockwave. Sometimes the Elder will do it one time, other times the boss will keep creating a bigger shockwave until it covers most of the area. Dodge it by sprinting as far away as possible and don’t approach Jinchi until the attack finishes.
Another deadly attack Elder Jinchi will do often is command its minions to go after you. The enemies will glow and run after the players in groups. Getting caught in the middle leads to a certain death as they will drain players' HP, so sprint around the area until the phase is done.
Summoning the
Red Tides and spamming heavy attacks also helps a lot, in addition to using a Spirit in Black Myth: Wukong, preferably the Wandering Wight, to deal extra damage. With that in mind, wait for openings to attack and try not to rush. Eventually, Elder Jinchi will be defeated.
