Black Myth: Wukong is a brutally challenging action RPG that throws tough enemies your way right from the first chapter, like
Guangmou. Guangmou is a powerful Yaoguai Chief you’ll face in Chapter 1’s Bamboo Grove. This creature has quick movements and is seen darting around the arena, spitting poison and launching projectiles at you.
Since it’s a mandatory battle, you can’t choose to skip the fight with
Guangmou and will need to defeat him to progress further in the game. Guangmou’s aggressive ranged attacks and unpredictable teleportations truly put your combat skills to the test, but the rewards are well worth the effort. Here’s everything you need to know to prepare for your fight with Guangmou and beat it to claim his spirit.

Jade Lotus is a key crafting material for many resistance medicines in Black Myth: Wukong; here's where to get some.
How To Prepare For Guangmou Boss Fight In Black Myth: Wukong
As mentioned above,
Guangmou is a mandatory boss who appears halfway through Chapter 1 of Black Myth: Wukong. To get to him, start walking from the Snake Trail Keeper's Shrine and cross the river to reach the Bamboo Grove. As you enter the area and go near him, a cutscene will introduce the fight and Guangmou immediately begins attacking you with projectiles after it ends.
While you should be leveled up high enough to face
Guangmou at this point, you can always increase your chances of victory by defeating regular enemies and gaining XP to level up. Besides this, here are a few things you can do to prepare for your fight against Guangmou.
Save Up Your Health And Stamina
Before facing
Guangmou, you should conserve your health by avoiding fights with other enemies. When you’re on your way to Guangmou’s arena, you’ll come across a dark area, crawling with many enemies. Just ignore them to save your health and stamina and proceed to the arena.
Additionally, it’s also a good idea to invest Sparks in increasing your health and stamina stats. Doing so will improve your survivability and endurance during the
Guangmou boss fight.
Upgrade The Immobilize Spell
Immobilize is a powerful spell that can disrupt an enemy's attacks and create opportunities for damage. If you have sufficient health and stamina, investing Sparks to upgrade Immobilize can significantly increase your chances of winning against
Guangmou.
Upgrading this spell increases the time Guangmou is immobilized, giving you more time to hit him and control the fight.
Stockpile Antimiasma Powder To Cure Poison
Guangmou has the power to summon spectral snakes that can inflict you with Poison, a negative status effect that slowly drains your health. If not cured promptly, Poison can make it difficult to survive even minor injuries.
To counteract and cure the Poison status ailment in Black Myth: Wukong, use
Antimiasma Powder. You can buy these powders at the Keeper's Shrine Stores for 180 Will each.

Snake-Head Mushrooms are a useful crafting materials used to make a few medicines in Black Myth: Wukong; here's where to get them.
How To Beat Guangmou In Black Myth: Wukong
With increased speed and attack variety,
Guangmou is a more challenging opponent than the bosses you've faced in the game so far. Guangmou starts every fight with a Spiritual Onslaught, where he summons spiritual orbs that fly directly at you. You can deflect these orbs by spinning your staff or continuously dodging them. As the fight continues, he’ll get more creative with his attacks and use his fan to summon a Vortex of Wind or a Wind Spirit to knock you down.
While
Guangmou has various attacks, the most dangerous ones are undoubtedly his Poison Mist Breath and Snake Dance. The Poison Breath attack involves Guangmou deeply inhaling and then spraying poison mist in a small arc directly in front of him. In the Snake Dance, Guangmou performs a dance to summon four snakes that shoot venom at the player. To avoid both of these attacks, maintain a safe distance and keep dodging. Both of these attacks deal exceptional damage and can inflict the Poison status effect.
If you’re poisoned, quickly jump and move around to remove the status effect.
As for attacking
Guangmou, you should use your Transform and Immobilize spells strategically. In the early stages of the game, you probably will have unlocked the Guangzhi or
Wandering Wight transformation abilities, both of which can deal significant damage and absorb hits. Since Guangmou teleports frequently, immobilizing him is a good way to get some hits and effectively damage him.
If
Guangmou decides to teleport, take advantage of the Smash-stance attacks and use jump attacks to bridge the gap. This combination can deliver significant damage and help you beat this challenging boss in Black Myth: Wukong.
Guangmou Boss Fight Rewards In Black Myth: Wukong
For beating
Guangmou, you will be rewarded with around 700 XP, which is pretty decent to help you level up and get Sparks. Besides this, you’ll gain 515 to 530 Will, a
Stone Spirit, and Blood of the Iron Bull.
The most valuable reward you’ll get by putting
Guangmou to rest is the Guangmou Spirit Summon. When equipped, this spirit allows you to use Guangmou's signature move, summoning snakes onto the field, giving you a significant edge in your future battles.
