Your playtime in Black Myth: Wukong can vary greatly. Focusing solely on the main story and some side content will take you around 30 hours, which is a respectable duration for a linear AAA action RPG. While it may not be a 200-hour epic like Elden Ring, it doesn’t need to be. However, if you plan to experience everything the game has to offer — including all optional bosses, side quests, secrets, and more — your playtime can increase significantly to around 50 hours.

How Many Chapters Are In Black Myth: Wukong?

While Black Myth: Wukong does feature some exploration, it is primarily a linear game where you progress from one location to another. The game is divided into six major regions, each containing several subregions. Each major region corresponds to a chapter, and after defeating the chapter’s final boss, you move on to the next chapter. The main regions are as follows:

Black Wind Mountain - Chapter 1
Yellow Wind Ridge - Chapter 2
The New West - Chapter 3
The Webbed Hollow - Chapter 4
Flaming Mountains - Chapter 5
Mount Huaguo - Chapter 6

Unlike many other linear games, Black Myth: Wukong doesn’t lock you out of previous regions. Fortunately, you can backtrack via the fast travel mechanic. You can use the Keeper's Shrine to teleport between any previously visited regions or subregions, without any cost or penalty.
